Current Status: Available
Mana and Riko's Story: Mana and brother Riko were found abandoned and unclaimed within a Sussex council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving their lives. Mana will be neutered. Riko is neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Mana and Riko came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting their new families
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Mana's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: 19.8.24: Urgent Urgent being put to sleep tomorrow 20.8.24:

Met this beautiful girl Mana and took around the grounds then into the paddock with her brother
She is gentle on the lead and listens when you speak to her
Mana had a lovely run in the paddock they play beautifully together
Mana can sit on command and takes treats so gently
She is smaller than her brother and has a stunning face and beautiful eyes
I’m pretty sure she will be snapped up quick as she is such a beauty

Our second time with Riko and Mana today and what a lovely pair they are!
We took them in the paddock where they had a good run around. Mana is definitely the more cuddle bug of the two and loves a close fuss
Riko prefers the odd strokes here and there when he’s not running about exploring.
Riko gently took treats and ate them on the spot, Mana however took them away and attempted to bury them rather cute to watch!
Lots of dogs walking around the grounds and past the paddock and just like their original info states, they couldn’t have cared less!
Gorgeous pair who we are growing quite fond of!

Mana is much smaller than you’d expect for an AkitaXHusky. Her and her brother Riko both walk well, they like to be next to each other, bouncing off each other (literally) .
We followed RR Selwyn and she was very unphased. We also passed horses, she made her presence known with a quick short typical Husky vocal, but otherwise, again unphased.

Took this little angel Mana out with her brother Riko for a stroll around the woods
She is a little wary of the harness but a treat or two remedies that
Mana is very interested in squirrels but easily managed and definitely knows her name and listens
Mana is a gorgeous girl with lovely eyes and super soft fur, she has a beautiful gentle nature and in the right home she will bring joy

Riko and Mana are a funny pair to walk. They have lots of personality and enjoy walking together. Riko is usually in the front but sometimes Mana will shoulder-barge him out the way to get to a smell.
I could imagine their characters would fill a home with lots of joy!

Had a lovely long walk with beautiful Mana today through the muddy woods
Mana is a little shy but easy enough to harness and get ready
She is quite spirited when out with her kennel mate Riko but certainly easy enough to manage
I would like to take her out on her own one time to see if she’s any different as they really gravitate towards each other on a walk
Mana is stunning to look at and has a gorgeous fluffy coat (forgot to take pics)
Mana is a gentle little girl and would be a great addition to any home

Re: Mana (and Riko) Husky x Akita DofB 18.01.18 RRemedies Centre
We took Riko and Mana out to a secure field this weekend. We’d never walked them before or spent any time with them previously, only to give them sausages when passing their kennels.
This brother and sister duo are an absolutely dream! They both trusted us immediately, we harnessed them up and off we went, nicely walking down the street toward the car. Upon opening the doors they both jumped straight in and stood calmly whilst having their car seat belts clipped to their harnesses.
On the journey to the secure field they sat calmly and patiently the whole time, they didn’t make a peep. We only had the front seat windows open slightly as it was so windy during the storm weekend, but I think they would have loved to have the windows open.
Once we arrived they jumped out the car and immediately started exploring but always checking back round with us to make sure we were still there. So trusting considering they haven’t spend any time with us previous to this.
Mana adores her brother. When out on the field they would stick together and when on the lead Mana liked to keep up with her brother, scooting forward ever so slightly so that she could be directly side by side to him.
Water clearly doesn’t phase this girl. We did wonder if she would walk round the huge amount of water that had built up on the field….it would appear not the water didn’t phase her at all. She didn’t dunk herself or roll in it, but I think we may have a water baby on our hands with this gorgeous girl!
Mana takes treats gently too but once she’d had enough, she placed it in the corner of the sand box and then used her nose to bury it and save it for later. Not sure how yummy a sand covered piece of sausage would taste but she was enjoying herself so we didn’t stop her burying it.
Out of the two she seemed the more independent, exploring around but still always keeping close to her brother and checking in with us too. She is amazing!
They are a beautiful pair, so easy and relaxing to be with, it was a real joy to take them out and we will definitely be taking them out again, if they don’t get adopted first which would be even better!
Whoever adopts these gorgeous pooches will be so lucky and have such great lovable personalities filling their home

Met Mana and Riko for the first time today – wow, they’re such beautiful, friendly dogs! We took them to the paddock, where they first explored their surroundings very thoroughly and then they came in for cuddles. They are so fluffy!
