Riko and Mana's Story: Riko and his sister Mana were found abandoned and unclaimed within a Sussex pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving their lives. Riko is neutered as is his sister Mana chipped, and fully vaccinated. Riko and Mana came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting their new families.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Original referral information: Urgent Urgent being put to sleep tomorrow 20.8.24: Two Husky x Akitas, 7 years old, brother and sister. Good with people and not really bothered by other dogs.

We saved Riko and Mana and the pound agreed to hold for 1 week. They came into RescueRemedies 3rd Sept 24

We took Riko and his sister Mana for a walk around the grounds so they could see the lovely surroundings around the rescue
Riko is the bigger of the two and is a little bit stronger but he walked really well just wanted to keep up with his sister.
We took them in the large paddock and they were very happy to run around and sniff and investigate the different areas.

After they had a good run we called them over to take some pictures, they both sat beautifully and waited there turn for treat no rivalry, they must have been together for a long time.
Rikos coat is very beautiful and he has a very cute face.

Hopefully Riko will be homed quickly as he would easily fit into a new family

Our second time with Riko and Mana today and what a lovely pair they are! 😊

We took them in the paddock where they had a good run around. Mana is definitely the more cuddle bug of the pair and loves a close fuss love4.gif
Riko prefers the odd strokes here and there when he’s not running about exploring.
Riko will gently take treats and eat them on the spot, Mana however takes them away and attempts to bury them 😂 rather cute to watch!

Lots of dogs walking around the grounds and past the paddock and just like their original info states, they couldn’t have cared less!

Lovely bonded pair who we are growing quite fond of! 💜

Riko is quite small for an AkitaX, but bigger than his sister.
He is keen to be in front of or next to his sister, but otherwise walks well. He was completely unphased by the horses that passed, interested in RR Selwyn who we followed but probably because he wanted to be in front 😂

Riko travelled well as did his sister Mana on a long journey to the vets today. He is already neutered but was checked by our Vet and 1st Vaccinated. We did muzzle only because we were playing on the very safe side as neither of us was certain how he would respond to pain: Not a finch when he was injected. Calm, cool and kind!

Riko and Mana are a pair of stunners and love to walk together
They are still a little nervous of the harnesses but a bit of bribery with a treat and they are ready to go
:dog_running-186.gif:
Riko is the stronger of the two of them but easily managed
They are so cute together they jostle each other to be in the front
Riko is no problem passing other people and dogs and loves a fuss
Gorgeous boy with a lovely nature

We took Riko and Mana out to a secure field this weekend. We’d never walked them before or spent any time with them previously, only to give them sausages when passing their kennels.

This brother and sister duo are an absolutely dream! They both trusted us immediately, we harnessed them up and off we went, nicely walking down the street toward the car. Upon opening the doors they both jumped straight in and stood calmly whilst having their car seat belts clipped to their harnesses.

On the journey to the secure field they sat calmly and patiently the whole time, they didn’t make a peep. We only had the front seat windows open slightly as it was so windy during the storm weekend, but I think they would have loved to have the windows open.

Once we arrived they jumped out the car and immediately started exploring but always checking back round with us to make sure we were still there. So trusting considering they haven’t spend any time with us previous to this.

Riko adores his sister, he followed her everywhere but could be prized away momentarily for some sausages. As soon as he ate those he ran straight back to her. He’s such an easy and lovable boy to be around, a beautiful sweet soul. He can be strong on the lead when initially starting a walk but it was not to the point of uncomfortable. I think he was just very excited which is understandable.

He took treats really gently and loves a good neck scratch, rubbing his head against you for more. He was always busy keeping an eye on where we were and were his sister was, keeping us all together the whole time. This boy loves everyone to be together. He is amazing!

They are a beautiful pair, so easy and relaxing to be with, it was a real joy to take them out and we will definitely be taking them out again, if they don’t get adopted first which would be even better!

Whoever adopts these gorgeous pooches will be so lucky and have such great lovable personalities filling their home 🥰

Met Mana and Riko for the first time today – wow, they’re such beautiful, friendly dogs! We took them to the paddock, where they first explored their surroundings very thoroughly and then they came in for cuddles. They are so fluffy!

My Dad and I took Riko and Mana on a day trip to Ferring beach. We had such a lovely day, matched with beautiful weather, I'm sure we all benefitted from having a nice trip away.

The dogs were so well behaved in the car, cafe, and on the beach around other dogs, people and children. We so proud of their behaviour and enjoyed their company. Riko does pull a little bit stronger than Mana and they both seem to compete to be in the front but generally they are easy to walk.

Riko and Mana would benefit from a quiet home, where they could spend their golden years snoozing and going on nice walks. Both dogs are calm in nature but both have cute quirks that I'm sure will come out more in a home environment. They were in foster with another dog so pending all dogs get on they could share a home with another dog.

I hope to see these two in a home this Christmas... they'd make excellent turkey testers ;)
