She has enjoyed some birthday cake, a new dinosaur toy, and unfortunately due to the weather, we are just going to stay in for snuggles, but I have a feeling she won't mind that at all

We took Lottie on her first holiday! We travelled to a small cottage in the Forest of Dean. It had its own secure private woodland so we could let her off her lead and she loved exploring the woods, and was in stick heaven! She travelled well in the car the whole way (about 3 hours) and didn't have any accidents in the house. She was so well behaved the whole week and we got to work on her recall which she is very good at. It was reaaaally hot most of the days and she did really well only having a morning and evening walk, she was still very chill in the house and just loved snoozing on the sofa (nothing new there!)

Lottie is a very clever girlie, so here are some things she has learnt whilst she has been with us - some that we have taught her and some that she has just started doing of her own accord!

- She has overcome any separation anxiety she had! We have left her alone on a couple of occasions now, one time up to 4 hours, and she was absolutely fine! We have cameras so we can check on her and she just spent the whole time snoozing on our bed - no accidents, no destruction, no howling at the door, perfect!
- She sits and waits at the top of the stairs until I pick up her lead and harness, then she knows she is coming out too and runs down to the front door. This is a particularly handy skill when someone knocks at the front door too, as I can answer it, and she doesn't rush down to escape or overwhelm a delivery person!
- Whilst she always prefers to sleep in our bed, with the weather being so warm she has been sleeping more in her own bed. A simple 'Lottie, bed' command (usually needed two or three times as she REALLY likes sleeping in the big bed) and she settles into her own bed for the night.
- She sits and waits to be told to eat her food. Originally, we would say 'sit, wait, ok go' but now she knows to sit and wait without being told and just patiently waits for 'ok go'.
- We are working on 'wait' when we are outside. There is usually a lot more going on and she is very inquisitive so is harder to distract outside. But I can usually get her on the second 'wait' and I can even continue walking for a few steps and she stays put.
- She knows 'Lottie, no' which is handy when she comes to bug me early for dinner, or when she gets a little too close to our plates when we are eating. She then just takes herself off to sit on the sofa for a bit until dinner time is over.
- On the rare occasion that she has had an upset stomach, she knows to paw the front door to tell us that she needs to go out. She somehow learnt this all by herself and it took a couple of months, as she did have a couple of midnight accidents at first, but now she knows to go to the door and we immediately take her out, no accidents since!
- One less useful thing she has learnt is how to open doors! Not ideal when you just want a moment to yourself in the bathroom!

Lottie went to the vet this week for her annual vaccinations, and she was such a super star!
She wasn’t nervous at all about being at the vets and greeted the vet with cuddles and kisses. She happily let the vet check her over, and when it came to the jabs themselves, she didn’t even flinch! We also had her anal glands expressed whilst there, which she was less happy about.. (understandably) and whilst she was a bit wriggly so needed to be restrained by us, she dealt with it well, showing no aggression, biting or barking.
We treated her to a lovely autumnal walk afterwards, and plenty of cuddles at home.
