Betzy's Story: Betzy was found abandoned and unclaimed within a council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Betzy will be neutered, chipped, and undergo vaccinations. Betzy is coming in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

I met Betzy for the first time yesterday, knelt down and offered her some treats and a fussing, which she was happy about. After a short time she rolled on her back and indicated a tummy tickle was in order! She was very good about having the harness put on, and we went for a long walk. She pulled a little occasionally, but was very good and a pleasure to walk. Seemingly non-reactive and easy to handle. A pleasure to walk.

I met lovely Betzy when she came into the rescue, I took her and her sad eyes out of the car where she was so timid and shy. Now, after a few weeks, she has come out of her shell so much. You can tell she would be a real Velcro dog if she was at home and would be so loyal to her owner. She’s great on the lead, very loving to those who walk her and who could look past that gorgeous face and deep brown eyes?

Met and walked Betzy for the first time today. What a gorgeous girl. She is very cuddly and when I sat on a bench she jumped up and sat on me for a good hug. I don't know why these lovely dogs end up in rescue kennels it's so sad.

Gemma and I spent a few hours at the Rescue on Friday and Betzy was first on our list.

She was a little wary of me putting her harness on and my small treats weren't up to to the task so I ended up offering her a bigger chew, which did the trick - she just needed a brief distraction and was then perfectly happy to be "dressed".

We headed off on the "charity walk loop" and she was as good as gold. It was fairly wet and muddy in places and after skirting around the first few puddles, she changed her mind and simply walked straight through them. So, having the impression she would like the stream, we did risk a visit to it, which I just about got away with (see the video below)!

We finished off with time in the paddock where she happily bounded around after a few tennis balls (she even brought them back and dropped them a short distance away from me) but was then more interested in having some cuddles; Gemma and I were more than happy to oblige. I think Betzy could have spent a hours doing this - people are very clearly her thing.

She really is a lovely girl and has gone straight on my ever-growing list of favourites!

I was lucky enough to meet this gorgeous girl today, LOVE LOVE LOVE her. love4.gif
She has such lovely energy.
We went for a walk together then into the paddock for a game of ball but Betzy decided that she would prefer just cuddling up to me, so we spent ages just chilling together.
Really looking forward to spending time with her again soon Kiss of love.gif
