Danny's Story: Danny was found abandoned and unclaimed within a council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Danny is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Danny came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Danny's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Danny needed to be made safe so we stepped forwards and offered him a Rescue place

Danny boy is tall, with a beautiful red coat and wants to meet you, paws up on your chest and his eyes meeting yours with love and friendship. Very much arrived with the air of being the 'new kid on block'. We all can't wait to see him relax on campus!

I met Danny for the first time today and he is sweet and bouncy in his kennel. Quite strong first coming out but seemed to settle down once off the kennel grounds, not phased by cars at all. He had a good sniff round the paddock and then came over for some scratches.

Danny is a FAB dog. He is a large crossbreed with some lurcher in there which gives him practical intelligence as any lurcher owner knows. He is bouncy, with joy and its quite hard to comprehend when walking with him how he regularly has all four paws off the ground at once. Keen to meet other dogs and people which makes it a little difficult in the kennels as most dogs don't want a 'nose intruder' at their gate.
Danny is now neutered and fully vaccinated so as we say ready for the off!

I very much enjoyed my time with darling Danny yesterday.
I had been walking Danny's neighbour and Danny had been giving me the "take me out next please" cute, puppy eyes and little whimper - impossible to resist!
After some initial, excited barks, he stood nice and calmly whilst I faffed about a bit, getting him ready for the off.
Danny was certainly pleased to be out walking and gave a happy skip and a jump as we started our walk. He's pretty alert for squirrels and would chase them right up the tree if he could! Apart from that, he danced along very happily.
Once back in his kennel, he was a chilled-out dog and he leaned against me affectionately for strokes.
Danny could definitely do with swapping the noise of kennels for a more chilled environment. Hopefully you can offer that to this diamond of a dog?

I’ve been walking the lovely Danny recently, he’s a wonderful dog when out and about, he spends a lot of time sniffing and tracking and is full of energy. He is a pickle getting out of the kennel, his enthusiasm and desire to get out can be very full on but when you’re out and walking he is lovely. When he relaxes he gives you little glances back and also does a gentle lean whilst waiting to cross the road. I think he would be great for a very active couple, maybe cannicross or running, he has springs in his legs!

Oh Danny, you are such a sweetheart, I walk this fab dog everytime I’m at the kennels. He is a bit full on getting out but that’s because he is very happy to be escaping his kennel for an hour. His enthusiasm shows in great leaps so I just stand still, hold his leads short, turn my head away and very swiftly he stops, has a wee and is then ready to go. He benefits from following dogs and does pull but loves to run and isn’t reactive at all.
He’s got a lovely nature and just loves to be out and running/walking with you. He so needs an active, loving home where he can settle, feel safe and thrive. As I’ve said before I think this boy would be great for very active people, I reckon he would run for miles attached to a waist belt, he has never once jumped up at me on our very short and ungainly runs.
