If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Ziggy's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Little Ziggy seemed a bit overwhelmed having just arrived today, after being fitted with a new harness we headed to the paddock where he found a ball and transformed into a happy boy!
I was surprised to see he is 10 years old, he seems younger Re: Ziggy Yorkie DofB 13.07.14 RRemedies Centre
jan took out little ziggy the yorkie yesterday and we thought he might be a little bit nervous but instead he walked v well and confidently and afterwards he was happy to pose for a few pics - he is as sweet as he looks and will be very popular with walkers during his stay in rescue

Ziggy was in the paddock, patiently waiting by the door, and was very happy to be taken on a walk. I hadn’t met him before and he didn’t mind me clipping his leads gently – a bit of soft sausage did help! He walked very very slowly (which was great!) and enjoyed sniffing everything. At some point, he found a tennis ball in the undergrowth, collected it and asked me to throw it for him, which I did and his excitement went through the roof! It was only a gently trot to collect the ball, as he’s still recovering from neutering. As soon as we got back to his kennel, he went straight to his bed for a well deserved nap.

Ziggy was in his bed when I went to see him today. A bit of soft sausage persuaded him to come out with me for a walk. He said hi to Chris too and off we went for a lovely chilled walk in the woods. He took directions well and walked really nicely. On the way back, he found a tennis ball in the woods and was super chuffed to be able to carry it back with him. He’s got a great collection in his kennel. What a cutie!

Took this cutie for a little walk and in the paddock. Becca got him out as I was still with another dog. He was a little anxious to start with but when I said ‘shall we find a ball?’, he was totally up for that and when we found a whole box of balls he was in his element. We had great fun in the paddock, with him chasing the ball. He’s also very clever at sitting and giving you his paw. He will make an amazing companion to a lucky person/persons out there.

I’ve had the pleasure of walking Ziggy on a couple of Sunday’s. He’s a confident and quiet little chap, who appears unphased by mud, puddles, other walkers and other dogs.
Ziggy’s got good stamina and manages a long walk for such little legs. We took a lovely walk in woods, and along a bridal path, then back round via the public paths and along a busy main road (including over a bridge crossing the motorway) and Ziggy copes admirably with it all. He also developed a little check in after a while, preferring to trot out slightly in-front then turning back to make sure his walker is doing fine.
Ziggy even had the energy to check out a couple of stray tennis balls on our return. Though he was satisfied with just a couple of ball chases before looking ready to retire to his room.
Ziggy is a lovely small dog who surely will not be in kennels for long. Look at this gorgeous inquisitive nose who could resist an opportunity to become this little guys new family.

You just wouldn't believe that Ziggy is just over 10 - maybe that is just middle age for little yorkies?
He has gone from strength to strength since he arrived at RR and is such a little soldier! On Tuesday we joined two other dogs and did the circular walk which takes about 35 minutes and Ziggy positively skipped round the route. He wasn't bothered by the dogs we were walking with although Sidley (who is barely more than a puppy) really seemed to want to play with him. Ziggy just ignored him and skipped on!
He loves playing with tennis balls and pounces on any which come his way - there are usually a few lying round the kennel grounds. He has also started to enjoy high value treats - the shy little dog who first came in was not interested in treats at all.
I think someone would be very fortunate to take Ziggy home as he would be such a lovely little companion to spend gentle time with.
