Twix's Story: Twix was found abandoned running around a busy road in Kingston at midnight with 7 others. All suffering from malnutrition and under nutrition. They were not chipped and unclaimed within a council pound. They were checked over by a Dog Law Police Officer (DLO) due to their colouring but cleared from be 'dangerous dog breeds'. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Twix is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Twix came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Kobe's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Called by the dog warden; 2 of the 8 had got a Rescue place but the other 6 booked in to be put to sleep the next morning having served their legal 7 days. Relief by all as we agreed to squeeze them in.

Twix came in 2 days ago. He went to our vets the next day and was examined, chipped and 1st vaccinated. He sadly carries demodectic mange severely, out of all the his relatives. Twix is receiving baths and specific treatment.
Wonderful temperament. He will be neutered next week.

I’ve had a couple of lovely walks with Twix, today we went (with his kennel mates) to the paddock. Twix was fun and inquisitive, very comfortable walking on the lead and also happy to explore the paddock off lead. He’s a lovely, bright puppy, no nibbling or chewing and is very happy to sit down and watch the world go by for a bit in the paddock. A gorgeous boy who deserves a loving home.

Twix is a treat..
Sunday we enjoyed a stroll with Mars, Twix was good on lead, a little shy, especially when passing a large tree trunk
He is already listening and following commands, so keen and eager to please!
Just a wonderful pup

Sheila and John with their son George came to meet Twix. They really got to know him and after a shower he was lifted into their car to fly off into the sunset...

Re: Kobe (Twix) Staffie x DofB ?11.23 Gravesend
Day 1: Twix is now called Kobe and he has been nothing less than a dream. He was good as gold on his journey home, between snoozing and looking out of the window, he was very relaxed. When we got home, he was so keen to sniff around and learn his new surroundings. We gave him time and space but he was very insistent on being near us at all times, which we were happy to accommodate. His new grandma lives in an annexe at the bottom of the garden and he needed to make sure she didn’t return there after dinner in the garden. He’s just too cute, walking her back up the garden, waiting and checking to make sure she’s following. He loved being in the garden and exploring, but didn’t really know what to do with his toys. He has stolen my spot on the sofa and just loves to stretch out on there. When he first walked into the living room, and felt the carpet under his feet, he froze and just lay down for a min taking it all in (I shed a lil tear at this)!

Day 2: Kobe spent most of the day sleeping, he was such a tired boy. He settled well for his first night, a little pacing but then went to his bed after about 10 mins and slept through, with no accidents. Although, he did pee in George’s bedroom, first thing in the morning as John let him come upstairs instead of letting him out for a pee, so definitely not Kobe’s fault. He was so excited to see everyone was still there. We kept the back doors open all day and he took himself outside to pee and poop. He kept going to grandma’s annexe to find her, the doors are usually open so he couldn’t work out why it was shut at 6am. We finally knocked at a reasonable hour and he was so happy to find she’s still in there. Kobe finally started showing some interest in his toys, he’s learning how to fetch the ball and tug with his rope. He’s a very lazy boy, his chosen method of getting off the sofa is to just roll off and fall onto the floor (video to follow). So nice to see him relaxing and starting to play.
Kobe had no clue how to handle stairs and he refused to go up them on day 1, I will post a video his eventual successful venture up them shortly. He’s still mastering coming down the stairs.

Day 3: This little guy has well and truly settled in, his character has really come out and he is a cheeky and mischievous little pup, which is so beautiful to see. We got to see his first zoomie today, unfortunately, his coordination is not great so it was a very tense moment of watching him try to avoid obstacles on his way. The only time we hear him bark or growl is when he hears a noise and he is up and at it like a flash, so loyal and protective. The last couple of days have been too hot to take him out in the day so we stuck to early morning and evening walks, as well as garden play, we’ve figured out less is more because this cheeky chappy will just lay down and refuse to move if he’s had enough (we’re working on it). Today he has been super engaging, seeking out play with us, he’s sooooo in love with George (the feeling is mutual), he’s still herding grandma to the house everyday. He’s LOVING his toys, loves a game of fetch and tug with his rope, as well as his cuddly toys. He likes to try and “help” when I’m hoovering or hosing down the garden (it’s not very helpful). We couldn’t imagine life without him, he’s just the best! He’s so affectionate, loves a cuddle and is so happy to see you, even if you’ve only been gone just a few minutes. He’s also learnt not to bark and stress when he hears someone come down the stairs, as it’s one of us, he just perks up and waits to see who walks in.
I’m not techy but as soon as I’ve sorted out a YouTube page, I will upload some lovely videos of him.
