Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Ginny's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: We were asked to help Ginny who is still recovering as she came in with scabs, very thin and urine stains on her fur.

I have walked Ginny twice now she has had a tuff time in her life but she enjoys being with people loves a cuddle easy to harness not dog reactive a little slow at walking but iam sure when she has a little more confident she will be ready to go on a long walk At the moment Ginny is under weight With good food and the love from all it wont be long before she is looking pretty (But she is very pretty now )

Had my heart stolen by Ginny yesterday. What a complete sweetheart this little girl is. She still bears the scars (literally) of the awful life she has had to date, but with time (and several baths and good food) yellow stains will disappear from her coat and hair will grow back over the scars on her little legs and feet and some weight gain will cover her knobbly little back bone and ribs. Yes, I shed a few tears, but it was mainly at the capacity of trust and forgiveness displayed as she cuddled into me and rested her head in my hand as I stroked her ears and cheek. We enjoyed a nice walk together in the shade of the woods around the rescue as it was extremely hot. We then found a nice bench and I lifted Ginny up to join me as she hasn't quite got the spring in her legs yet to jump up (she will have I am sure, before too long) and we watched the world go by as I promised her she would never be hurt again. Ginny shows no reaction to other dogs, although she was a little overwhelmed by all the barking when we went back to her kennel and put the brakes on, so I carried her past the noisy welcome, a very easy thing to do as she is so little and slight. Unsurprisingly, given her background, she will surf for whatever food she may find on the ground, so at the moment a keen lookout so she can't find anything inappropriate is called for. She loves to be given a treat and small pieces of chicken were enjoyed on our bench. It hardly needs to be said that she was very gentle taking them, but I'll say it anyway. ![angel13.gif] angel13.gif]](./images/smilies/angel13.gif)

I met ginny for the first time today and she is adorable. She was so excited to be going out for a walk but was overwhelmed so I carried her past the other dogs in the kennels . She was a little reluctant to walk at first but once she realised I had chicken she walked quite well. We then had a walk around the grounds and she definitely enjoyed that, I wanted to give her a cuddle so we went to poets corner and my she is so sweet and affectionate, after a bit more chicken we walked back and then I carried her back into her room, I adore this sweet little girl and cannot wait for her to find her new home and family hopefully as soon as possible

Re: Ginny JRT DofB TBAss RRemedies Centre
Was delighted to meet up with little Ginny yesterday, although very surprised that she hasn't already been scooped up into a loving home. She is beginning to put weight on and although still very slender she is no longer the little bag of bones I first met. Her coat is thickening up too and now lovely and soft. The scars on her little legs and feet are disappearing as the hair grows back, and although she is still quite yellow around the tail, haunches and belly from having to lie in her own faeces and urine, it is only a matter of time before that disappears too, along with any bad memories that may remain, because Ginny faces the world with love and joy and if you didn't know her background you would never guess what she has been through from her demeanour. We went to the paddock yesterday and I introduced Ginny to tennis balls. She has no idea how to play, really doesn't have a clue
but she does know how to cuddle
she followed me around the paddock even though she was off lead, not quite brave enough to go exploring on her own initially, she did lag behind for a sniff and then wasn't sure what to do, but came straight to me when I called her
when I sat down she was there, wanting and expecting a cuddle (and why not
) scooped up onto my lap she sat facing me with her little paws on my shoulders and gave me a lick
. Ginny is getting brave enough to shout at the other dogs that are shouting at her as she passes them going out of the kennel block and is happy to walk with you now. She is walking slightly behind and to the side, on a slack lead, and so I did keep checking that she was still with me and hadn't somehow disappeared as she is so slight there is no pressure on the lead at all! She is an absolute poppet and ready to enjoy life
Oh yes, and as she recovers from the neglect she has endured she is beginning to look a lot younger

Dear little Ginny and I had a lovely walk today, I was really surprised that she was happy to walk out of the kennel grounds into the bridal path. Bless her she was so brave walking next to me. Ginny likes to walk very close to you, she stopped for a few sniffs. Ginny ignores all dogs passing, and takes treats very gently, I noticed when coming back to the kennels, she was eager to get back, this is her safe place. Beautiful girl
