Zebedee's Story: Zebedee came in from abroad. He needs a terrier family so we were approached as terrierescue in Aug 23. Zebedee has been waiting for us since then. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Zebedee is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Zebedee came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Zebedee's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: Aug 23: Dear Lynne,
Thank you so much for agreeing to help Zebedee. We will try to sort out the kennels tomorrow. The rescue group who helped him will cover the cost of his kennels until you are able to take him.

Oh my goodness, I had a quick peep and a quick hello through the door of this gorgeous, waggy tailed little fella! I can't wait to meet him properly.
Re: Zebedee Spaniel x DofB 01.10.17 RRemedies Centre
Zebedee arrived yesterday and despite the long journey he was receptive and ready to embrace a woodland walk and enjoy the paddock after meeting dogs happily at their gates.
Zebedee has a spaniel coat and a spaniel feel but we are told he is very focused on squirrels and the like. Zebedee is greeting and making new friends and will go down very well with all walkers.

He was a complete hit with me! What a joyous, happy, cheerful little chap he is. Zebedee was very excited to be leaving his pen and going for a walk but he settled almost as soon as we were in the woods. He is especially excited when he sees another dog - not reactive - just excited as if he wanted to meet them and to play. He is so very friendly and that tail of his did not stop wagging throughout the walk. He enjoyed a good sniff and a good munch of grass. I'm sure he will be very popular with all the walkers at the kennels - I can't wait to walk him again.

thank you.
Zebedee is such a bundle of joy. If you want your life to be filled with joie de vivre and enthusiasm please do consider this little dog.
He is an absolute treasure - he does take a bit of careful managing around other dogs because he just gets so excited. Otherwise he walks well - sometimes that little nose is down to the ground, sometimes he has a sniff and a munch of grass, but he usually keeps up quite a fast pace such is his happiness at being outside.
He has loads of energy and would suit a person who could manage that energy whilst giving him a lovely safe life. At the moment he is still a bit of a door dasher and so I carefully exit his pen with him. Gorgeous boy - everyone should have a Zebedee in their life!

Zebedee continues to settle in with us all. Zebedee is everyone's friend and dances on introduction. He really puts a smile on our faces.
Zebedee is quiet noisy when he first meets another dog and is keen to get close too them (not at them) but ultimately gives the other space. Managed both on leads he settles within 7 mins. Thought I'd show how after 15 mins walking with Tess on the home run given the opportunity to go closer to he is comfortable to keep his distance and relax in her company ever conscious of her. Yes he does ZigZag .. Zebedee spells out his name on his walk!

Re: Zebedee Spaniel x DofB 01.10.17 RRemedies Centre
I got to take the adorable Zebedee for a walk today. Hearing that he may door dash I was prepared with treats at the ready to sneak my way into his kennel without allowing the great escape. It took a while to get this excited squirmy fella into his harness for a walk but once we got there we were firm friends. I think my new buddy was just hopeful for a good fuss and belly rub and therefore just a tad excited.
Once the leads were on Zebedee was no trouble at all. We skirted past all the kennels and their occupants without any fuss at all. We explored the woods and made our way up the bridal path with a waggy tail and eager pace pausing for occasional sniff. As we saw a fellow walker heading towards us we veered off the path for a sniff at the banks of the stream to avoid any reactivity.
When Zebedee realised my ploy meant he was missing saying hello his excitement resulted in a little disappointed squeak as the other dog passed and a slight pull in their direction. However, Zebedee was easily redirected back to our walk to allow us to continue and reach the end of our path.
We turned around and Zebedee was happy to retrace our steps. There were a couple of moments when I had the feeling that this sniffer dog might have like to disappear into a hedge if I let him, but he was easily refocused back in the right direction.
As we came out from the bridal path we stopped on the grass to enjoy the sunshine together. After a few strokes while paused on the grass, we were passed by a family of cyclists on the path then a mob of motorbikes on the main road, but neither appeared to bother Zebedee in the least.
We then bumped into a couple out walking who were happy great us and stop for a chat. Zebedee showed us all how much he loved a bit of attention and after a few strokes he even rolled over for a belly rub from his new friends. I could imagine this fella with his zest for life could make anyone an enthusiastic companion, keeping them active; with thoroughly enjoyed walks and enthusiastic greeting of strangers. Followed up with plenty of belly rubs once back home.

I met Zebedee for the first time today and what a lovely dog he is! Easy to harness and walked nicely, loved running round the paddock but the thing he most enjoyed was a cuddle and scratch!

What a little cutie! Friendly, cuddly and with a sweet bouncy energy - his new owner will be very lucky!
