Clover's Story: Clover was found abandoned and has moved through homes. Her mother, Lola, was also found stray and came into Rescue South Coast council pound the same day. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Clover will be neutered, chipped, and undergo vaccinations. Clover came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Clover's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: 2.4.24: Clover is the one most known to us. She was found wandering the streets in the early hours about 8 weeks ago. She was extremely friendly, but the kennel staff noted that she had a habit of urinating on her bedding and chewing at the plastic bed, toys, bowls and kennel bars, causing a fair amount of damage. We managed to get hold of the original breeder, who optioned adopting her himself. We explained the issues she was having, but he informed us that he already had an exempted Bully XL who had incontinence issues, so he was happy to try.
He was also able to shed a little light on her life. He sold her to a family with a young child who had her for a couple of years who he remained in contact with, but this family were unable to keep her when their living situation changed rapidly. This family gave Clover away to someone else, which is when the trail died off. We suspect this new owner may have allowed her to stray deliberately.
Unfortunately, a few weeks after the adoption was finalised, he informed me that he has been told by our council housing team that he cannot have more than one dog at the property, so she was released back into our care.
At the time of collecting Clover, he also informed me that Clover’s mother had been dumped on his doorstep that day with no explanation. This dog is Lola. I took her in as stray regardless, mostly as it was heavily implied she would be by the end of the day anyway.
He also informed me that Clover had shown no destructive behaviours at all, and had only had one accident on the bed in the time she had been with him. Dog Warden

I got to walk clover today and she is such a lovely girl. Really calm to get out and put leads on, plodded along next to me and didn’t react to the neighbouring dogs barking at her. Loved the paddock and playing with the ball. She also led me to the poets hut and sat next to me for a while. I took her back to the kennel via the cats and she was mildly interested but no barking etc and came away quickly.

New walker Millie walked Clover yesterday whilst I walked Lola. They both walked beautifully and were happy to see each other.
Not bothered by passers by, traffic or other dogs. Not even horses.
Clover is gentle and sweet natured, a very easy girl so fingers crossed she is snapped up soon

I met Clover for the first time today and what a beautiful, friendly, sweet and calm girl she is! We had a lovely walk, she was by my side the whole time and didn't pull at all. We saw some people on bikes, motorbikes and other dogs being walked. Clover ignored the people and bikes but did stop a few times when she saw another dog, as she was keen to say hello, but she was easily distracted to keep on walking by.
We then sat down on a bench before going to the paddock for a little run around and playing catch with a ball. Clover gave me lots of cuddles, she is very good at listening to commands such as "sit" and "come" and would give me paw without being asked.
She would make a beautiful addition to any family home.

Clover and Lola are such a sweet pair. They loved walking and then playing in the paddock together
