Ashley's Story: Ashley lost her home when her owner moved into Sheltered accommodation early April. Ashley needs to be a single cat. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Ashley is neutered, chipped, MOT'd and fully vaccinated. Ashley came in to Gatwick Cattery whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our cats, please complete our Cat Homing Questionnaire. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new cat within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay cats: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our cats need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our cats back-up for life.
Ashley's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our cats, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Ashley's family were unable to secure a Rescue place and their only option was to put her to sleep as she is reserved in nature. We offered to take her in a find her new family.
Ashley came into RescueRemedies on the 9th April 24

Ashley was in a Vet cubicle when I arrived today. I said nothing when the Vet nurse said she would get her. Another Vet nurse said she had found a mat on her back and Ashley had been happy for her to gentle comb it out. I watched... Carrier prepared the Vet Nurse opened the pen and spoke to her, offered her hand and Ashley meowed when it was right under her nose. The hand stroked her back and then slowly lifted her up into the carrier.
On arrival Lou and Sophie were the welcoming party and we put her into the run so she would be aware it was hers before she went into her lounge!

Ashley is shy and has been laying low with a little wander now and then and is getting down from her bed to use her litter tray and enjoy her food.
Today I followed my gut feel and decided to mix her with Holly and Dave, 2 very receptive cats who would not oppose her in anyway. I introduced her to the run first without either of the resident cats present. Holly showed us her climbing skills and she checked everywhere for escape routes. With 10 mins she settled I also noted that whilst hanging from the mesh she didn't flinch at me stroking her through the mesh.
Ashley decided to enter the bed space area and I captured first meet on video unaware Dave is above, close by...

I and the staff have kept a close eye...there has been a lot of movement: Free and easy movement as Ashley moves amidst friends

Dear little Ashley has lost everything she has ever known all of a sudden, so it's no surprise that she isn't quite sure of what on earth is going on around her. She is slowly but surely settling into life at the rescue and it was lovely to see her out in the run this afternoon. She isn't quite ready to get too close to humans yet and will need time to develop trust, but I'm sure she can and will be able to do this with the right person or people
She would be a very rewarding little cat for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference for a senior cat

Ashley is settling and she seems to have softened her guard. She enjoys being with her companions and finding places where she can see activity. Pretty little girl, she doesn't ask to dominate she simply asks to be....

Ashley has had friends come and stay. Sammy was slightly larger identifit male Ashley, and recently 2 kittens. She has accommodated very well but really seemed to like Sammy especially. Sammy was very vocal and Ashley became vocal too in response.
Ashley is my "go to cat" to go and talk with love her very very much she is a good listener.

I sat next to Ashley for a while and she enjoyed some Dreamies. As I was leaving, she started to meow at me! I think she was asking me not to leave. Ashley would really like someone to bond with.
