Ava's Story: Ava came into our care on welfare grounds. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Ava is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Ava came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Ava is a little sweetheart. She is very trusting and tolerant which is amazing as she has clearly not had the best of times in the past. I found her to be welcoming and happy to see me, when I entered her kennel, but a little hand shy if I moved too quickly. She has just been spayed, so I carefully removed her suitical suit and put on her harness, moving slowly so she could see what I was doing. She let me do this easily but I wanted her to feel comfortable with me. She was keen to get out and she did her toileting straight away. We then went for a gentle stroll along the lane, Ava setting the pace. She walked slowly and took her time to explore. Ava is a special soul, one of those dogs who immediately steals my heart. She will thrive with the love and attention from the staff and volunteer walkers and soon realise we are all here to show her love and make her life better

I walked Ava for the first time today. A sweetheart, she really is. She has a calm presence about her and was happy for me to loosen her body suit, harness up and off for a walk. She is a lovely dog to walk and had no interest in other dogs passing by or joggers. She would make a lovely family pet and doubt very much she will be with us for long. :dog-115.gif: thumbs.gif

Ava is such a beautiful, gentle dog! I met her today for the first time and she was so welcoming in her kennel. She gently put her paws on my legs to say hi and she’s got the most soulful eyes. It took two seconds to get her ready and off we went. She was interested in Chris, but very tentative at the same time. She gave him lots of sniffs and she gently bumped his hand with her nose to investigate and say hi. She was very calm on her walk, took directions well and wasn’t bothered by traffic, people or other dogs. Every now and then, she’d check on us and then carried on sniffing. I really hope she finds her forever home very very soon! :crossfingers.gif:

This girl is absolutely amazing, she is quite possibly the sweetest, kindest most gentle girl you could ever wish to meet, yes I love her love4.gif
Ava has not had the best start in life but oh my goodness how she loves, I can’t even fathom how she has the ability to open her heart and trust us when she’s been treated so appallingly, me I’d be a snarling beast, but Ava is a sweet, kind and gentle girl who will thrive in a home environment and all she needs is love thumbs.gif
Just to give you a little insight into Ava’s sweet temperament, this afternoon she had a bit of a bleed from a lump removal so off to the vets we went and I promise you this girl she did not stop smiling love4.gif the vet staff absolutely adore her and welcomed her with open arms, I think like me they are a little bit in awe of this amazing girl, I swear it’s impossible to not fall in love with Ava love4.gif she allowed the vets to clean her and stitch her back up, whilst all the time smiling without a single cross word, honestly I cannot tell you how in awe I am of this darling girl love4.gif
Once sorted it was back in the van and on our way back to kennels, all the way back Ava was very happy to receive cuddles and I’m not gonna lie Ava has a head just perfect for kisses love4.gif back at kennels Ava had a quick stroll, enjoyed her dinner and then straight to bed, love, love, love this girl love4.gif there is a home out there just waiting for Ava and she will absolutely complete your family love4.gif

Ava enjoyed the charity walk . She had no issues with lots of other dogs, mud or puddles .
She was happy to follow Wilson in front of us and seemed to want to catch up with him . She loves to have her nose in the air enjoying all the smells of her surroundings.
She was chilled with the passing horses and sat calmly waiting for them to trot on by.
She’s a little gem bless her ❤️

I spied sweet little Luna heading off on the charity walk on Sunday, I couldn’t resist going over for a little cuddle love4.gif she looked super happy to be heading off for a lovely bit of time out thumbs.gif
I swear this girl she will steal your heart and if I haven’t said it enough I am in awe of her. Having walked for RR for some time now you regularly meet dogs who absolutely sneak right in and they set up home in your heart love4.gif Ava she is right up there, she is a very special girl and I cannot wait to see her right there at the centre of her very own most loving forever family love4.gif

Ava is a real sweetheart. I walked her for the first time today and she greeted me calmly and happily, and waited very patiently while I figured out how to take off her medical collar and suit (and put it back on at the end).
She enjoyed a walk up the road though didn’t want to go too far and trotted happily back when we turned around. She showed a friendly interest in watching other dogs and liked meeting the other walkers we saw (and politely asking for a treat). We had a walk around the grounds with a few stops for strokes and scratches.
As everyone so far has said, she is just a lovely dog.

Ava seemed more confident and even happier today. She enjoyed exploring on our walk.

Ava came to stay with us for a week and she was such a lovely house guest.

Firstly, she loves people, always wants a cuddle and to be around someone. She will jump on the sofa, follow you around and go wherever you go. She was good with our 2 girls 12 & 14, sitting with them and taking treats well.

She is house trained and will do her business as soon as she goes out, ready to get going straight after. She enjoys a walk, sniffing everything and exploring. She also like to play, she enjoys chasing a ball, will go and get it and then lose interest roflmao.gif

She can be wary of other dogs, particularly off lead ones that come up with no warning so not for dense dog areas. She walks well, occasionally pulling if something piques her interest but is responsive to her name and will look back to make sure you are there.

She can be a little scared of sudden movements she isn’t expecting, so try to avoid these where possible, and loud noises but with calm reassurance she is fine.

Ava is a lovely little soul, a real people’s dog who loves company and companionship. Someone will be very lucky to have this beautiful girl love4.gif
