Current Status: Homed Buddy's Story: Buddy lost his home at 9 years old. He is a great chap. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Buddy is now neutered, chipped, and undergo vaccinations. Buddy came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Buddy's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

He has a great nature but unfortunately I have to let him go as my house is gonna be repossessed. I have asked everyone I know, but no luck with housing him If you can help in anyway I would very much appreciate it

Buddy came into RescueRemedies on the 2nd Feb 24.

Met Buddy when he was brought in by Paul yesterday. He was understandably a little scared and unsure what was happening, but fairly sure it wasn't a good thing , He was very willing to be stroked and reassured but didn't want treats (not even cheese ) however when he went off for a walk around the woods with Anne his tail came up and we saw a little of that staffie wiggle in his walk. He is a dear older boy and I really hope we can get him a comfortable sofa sooner rather than later.

Yes Jan - he so needs that sofa soon - poor little chap is so confused as his world has been turned upside down. Poor family who had to relinquish him as he is gorgeous.

Gorgeous. Buddy is absolutely gorgeous, and seriously well behaved. I received the normal enthusiastic staffie welcome when I entered the kennel, and soon we were off for a walk. Buddy was not bothered by any other dogs barking, and we went for a long walk. Slack leads throughout, non-reactive to other dogs, absolutely the easiest most enjoyable walk.
This boy needs a loving family asap xxxxx

Yes, Buddy is the most adorable, friendly, well behaved boy. You can't help but fall in love with him. He is understandably confused about life just at the moment but as soon as someone gives him some attention, he is happy, and he loves going out for walks and having cuddles.

Buddy and I went for a walk yesterday and it was just a total pleasure. He greeted me with a typical total staffie body wag and then lay down so that I could tickle his tummy if I wanted to (well of course I did ) after some mutual adoration I popped the leads on and off we went. Buddy is proving to be totally non reactive to the dogs we pass, both inside the kennel block (where they can be really noisy ) and outside on walks. The most noise he has made is a tiny little whimper of greeting as they passed us by. He doesn't pull on the lead, and walks at a nice relaxed pace, interested in the sights and smells around him. He is very happy to receive affection and gives it back in spade loads. The only sad bit of our walk was that Buddy did not want me to leave him, offering me kisses and cuddles if I would just stay a bit longer. This boy is more than 'a good dog' he's a total poppet. The photos are from when Geoff walked him on Monday. Buddy is 10 in March and it would be the best present of all if he were already in his very own comfortable and loving forever home to celebrate.

What an absolutely gorgeous boy

I met and walked Buddy for the first time yesterday. I had heard many rave reviews about this boy from other walkers and they were all spot on! He met and greeted me nicely and would we were soon heading off on what I call the "charity walk" loop.

It was a bit muddy in places but this was of no concern to Buddy - he was perfectly happy walking straight through these areas, and any puddles we encountered! He walks ahead of you at a nice pace, with no pulling. If I wanted to stop briefly, he would immediately do the same, responding more to the slight tension on the leads that developed, rather than my verbal request, I would suggest. He takes direction from the lead beautifully, although almost hardly any is required as he seems to be able to read your mind about which direction you want to go in!

We passed two off-lead black labs on a narrow section of woodland path but they were mature dogs and it looked like their owner could competently keep them moving on and by his side. So, with the added inkling that Buddy wasn't going to be phased, we stood calmly to the side as they approached. Sure enough, he was as good as gold and we were soon on our way again.

A squirrel passed in front of us shortly after this, and again, no reaction. Ditto with a couple of horses that were heading toward us, although they ultimately turned off before reached them. Buddy reserves all his excitement for humans it would seem!

On our return, it was hard to leave him as he had obviously enjoyed his walk and wanted me to stay a little longer. It is clear that Buddy thrives on human contact and you can't help but want to spend more time with him. I can't imagine how hard it was to give him up as he strikes me as being perfect. I hope his forever home comes soon so he embark on the next chapter of his life - I have no doubt it will.
