Loki's Story : Found stray/abandoned & unclaimed within a South Coast council pound: Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Loki is now neutered; chipped and fully vaccinated. Loki was in boarding kennels nr Guildford awaiting the right family without children and he is concerned around them. Loki was in foster living with 2 older dogs until his ideal home comes up.

PLEASE NOTE: Dog laws have changed with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces, and manage and support encounters so as not to place dog's lives at risk, (Destruction or Control Orders are common place nowadays).

***PLEASE HELP OUR LONG STAY DOGS: Our min. adoption donation £175, which supports our work and Is non returnable. We will offer an alternative dog should our dog not settle given adequate time and reassurance. Rescue Remedies offers their dogs back up for life and exist on the goodwill of our supporters and volunteers.

Please click for Loki's thread for regular updates, new pictures and videos. To apply to home a dog, you must be ready within 7 days and complete a homing questionnaire submitted Online We work fast to secure our dogs their loving homes and can be talking to up to 10 families at any one time. Please remain open: We have the dogs we have. Our dogs need a supportive family to offer patience, time & tolerance to allow them to settle.

Original Referral information : We work with our dogs & often reveal a different picture & positive skills as they build trust. 21.12.17:Dear Lynne,
I am writing to you to seeing if you can help a lovely young dog who has just about reached the end of his road. He was placed in a new home from the dog pound last Sunday (17th). All was going very well until he met a young child and he was very reactive. I took my 9 yo son to meet him yesterday and he was also very reactive. As soon as my son left the house, he immediately calmed and was the gentle, relaxed dog again. As he is a big dog, maybe Akita, we can’t take any chances, but I believe in the right hands he could be a fabulous dog.
I know that you have your hands full, but if I can’t find a home for him he will be euthanized 4pm tomorrow.
I would guess that he is about a year old and entire.
I am not sure if he would be suitable for rehabilitation, but I would like to explore all avenues before I give up.
I would obviously make a donation. The man who is his current owner does not have much money so he does not have the resources to spend on a behavioural specialist.
Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Nx

Loki came into Rescue Remedies as an emergency

Loki and I are besties now, especially after I took him for a walk. He LOVES his walks and out of his kennel he's a million percent PUPPY!!! I didn't put a harness on him today as I didn't want to overwhelm him, I regretted this pretty early on as he began doing zoomies around me in the field. He's a big lad and his zoomies were so cute that they gave me the giggles which isn't helpful when trying to hold a lead. Loki is actually not strong on the lead and once I looped my waist lead around him I was able to feel a bit more attached to him whilst he was doing his little puppy bounds and play bows at me.
He doesn't trust immediately and kennels scare him, I wish we could have spent longer together and I can't wait to see him again.
Loki must have looked just like a little teddy bear as a pup and may well have been treated like one which may account for his nerves. He still looks like a bear but he is a dog, a dog with huge potential.

Well my wish came true and I got to spend some more time with Loki. Today he took a long walk, made friends with some more people and tried to play with every dog he saw!
Loki's a lucky boy as me and MrP spent some of our Christmas money on new harnesses for Tizer and Peppermint and we got a size too big for Tizer so guess who got it instead thumbs.gif
Isn't he handsome? It says Rescues Rule on the sides

What a boy

Loki knows "sit", "paw" and "wait". He sometimes confuses "sit" with "stand on your backlegs put your paws on my shoulders and tilt your head adoringly at me", but we don't mind that. Heartbreaking that such a pup has been so misunderstood and ended up in kennels, especially when he cries at me as I leave smiley-sad010.gif

As Mrs P says this Boy is a supersized bouncy puppy. Wow ....Hes stunning with that long stare he gives you , but you get the puppy love of him placing his paws on both your shoulders.
I got the great pleasure of walking him this week , He easily makes friends and strides past the kennel dogs amused as they bark at him.
I don't think he's had much experience of the wider world , he whimpers at people or dogs in the distance. We walked past a very excited , barking labradoodle and Loki was amazing , listened walked very well past , again unsure of the dogs behaviours
As though he hasn't seen off lead dogs before.
He's very easy to walk , isn't strong on the lead
But has puppy playful moments when you know he would love to run ! A stunning charming boy who is truly adorable .

I picked this gorgeous boy up from Guildford today for a scheduled trip to the vets, just a little snip, sorry Loki! He was not at all keen on getting into the car but with the assistance of the great people at the kennels we finally got him into the back seat on a doggy hammock arrangement. He was certainly a fidget to start with but then settled really well and I was soon treated to a nose on my shoulder, just under my armpit, between the front seats for a nose rub in fact anywhere he could get attention! He watched all the comings and goings through the window, getting a little excited when he saw a dog or two in Dorking town centre.
We made it to the vet's where he was a little nervous but generally a big brave boy, I stayed with him while his pre med took effect until he was a floppy, sleepy boy. Not too long later I picked him up for a trip back to our Gatwick kennels and the cuddly sausage spent the journey sleeping across the front seat with his head resting up against my arm, yes officer I have full control of the car just changing gear is awkward!
This is one handsome dog, I've fallen for his charms so get in line people and get that adoption form completed asap. love4.gif

Loki was vaccinated this week... was also cat tested which he did really well only problem he was more interested in the cat food! His winter coat is coming out in lumps so as I sit here I am covered is a down of Loki fur. Met lots of people today about 9 and only reaction we got was an excited bark towards one which then was over and he was settled again.
