Current Status: Homed
About Maisie: Maisie was emotionally shut down on arrival in November 2014 but slowly came out of herself to reveal the fabulous dog she is. She makes friends wherever she goes, and is a firm favourite with the volunteer kennel walkers. She has never been keen on other dogs, but out walking with them she is fine. Maisie doesn't like intrusive bouncy dogs, and will bark at them if she gets flummoxed; she is soon distracted back on her walk. Calm dogs she settles with. Maisie is not cat safe and needs to be an only pet. Maisie walks nicely on lead and so enjoys her walks and cuddles. She is totally people friendly like most Staffies, good with children out and about. Maisie is now a total cuddle monster and loves a good hug with kisses. She is one of those dogs that will roll in anything - she just loves to throw her legs in the air.

Maisie is a mature Staffie. She has had a hard life with 4 years of kennelling on top. Her coat is a golden red and she has the attractive greying black muzzle. Housetraining has remained throughout her kennelling. She loves to play with toys and let her hair down. This lovely girl just needs a chance and she will be an absolute darling in the home, and would so love to share your sofa. An experienced Staffie home will know they have won the lottery in stepping forwards for our bestest friend.

Known background: Maisie originally came from Essex where she lived in a flat and been bred and bred from. Maisie went to a Somerset rescue (2011) for 2 months but then was taken in by a Welsh Staffie Rescue who had her for over a year and improved her socialisation skills and general training. Maisie is now spayed, chipped and fully vaccinated. Maisie was in kennel nr Gatwick.

Maisie needs a supportive family to offer time and tolerance to allow their new dog to settle. Maisie needs a family who understands her impoverished past as a breeding machine and will support her adjustment back into a home setting after 4 years in kennels. Maisie needs to be an only pet. Maisie seems receptive and settled around children but not proven to live with young since her time in Rescue. NB Our Rescue asks owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters, as dog law changes place dog's lives at greater risk.

Maisie is a little sweetheart. She is a strong little dog but she was actually very easy on the lead as she loves to amble along having a good old sniff and snuffle as she goes. Very friendly and cuddly, just a delightful little character to spend time with.

I took Maisie for a longer walk today and she was delighted. We walked with Louise with Nessa, both dogs happy and busy with their walks giving each other plenty of space. Maisie walks with her nose to the ground in a very determined fashion enjoying all the smells. She will let you know where she wants to go but equally is happy to go with your directions if asked. She is a friendly, calm girl, an all round delightful walking partner.

Lovely Lovely Maisie travelled to the vets in a crate..a little meowing but that was more to do with the dog travelling next to her. Easy peasy in the vets and Mark our vet stated what an amazing dog she was, which he rarely chooses to comment, so obviously he is right, she is an amazing Staffie girlie. Maisie is starting her vaccination course again. So peaceful in crate travelling back and I left her to enjoy the paddock. When I came back to her she had found a place to sit in the sun and was just basking so quiet and enjoying the quiet and her own company in the warmth of the spring day.

Maisie can really walk...her owners would be great if they were into power walking or jogging!. She has lost weight but still a a little way to got..she will feel younger and younger as it lifts off.

Maisie went for her 2nd vax today and I met her as she came back from the vets and off we tottered for a walk, via the paddock first which amazing Maisie loved :biggrin.gif:

She loved the paddock 'cos it meant she got a big cuddle ...

And soon sussed that treats (sparingly dispensed as conscious she's still trying to refine her waistline!!!) were available...What a great treat face !!!

Maisie made a guest appearance at Godstone this afternoon so taking advantage we took her in the paddock so she could stretch her legs and we could get a photo or two:

I was ridiculously happy to see Maisie today. She was so much lighter on the lead and not bothered by other dogs like she was before, we had a beautiful, relaxed sunny walk.
I love her
