Doesn’t time fly when you are enjoying yourself and this little boy is loving his time out from the Rescue. He has already in a week become calmer and more confident , he loves routine and responds to most new words now always looking at us for reassurance . Am I doing ok? :yes.gif: Little Leo you are doing Amazing. We have been playing ball every day in the garden to work on his recall leave and sit commands and again almost instantly he understands what to do. He never really barks apart from maybe in the night he hears a strange noise occasionally which is reassuring for us. Now the Hoover is another matter entirely, impossible to do when he’s around lol……… he hates it and will take every opportunity to bite it…… still gets me out of hoovering. thumbs.gif . Let’s see what next week brings and how he improves and I’ll update with some videos of him love4.gif

This little boy has had an exciting and eventful two weeks . His visit to the vets to sort his anal glands was his first, I have to say I was worried about how he would react but when the vet carried out the procedure he didn’t even look round or make a noise which was amazing. 🤩He the spent Christmas with my mother in law of 97 and behaved impeccably. He still is a little nervy when going on his new walking route across fields but is enjoying them more and more. He loves squirrels and birds but just stares at them and pulls a little towards them. He had no fear of any close up traffic on the small country lanes. He is slightly dog reactive but improved so much since he came into Rescue he know just makes a very shrill bark if he sees one. I have been walking with his squeaky ball which he loves and this helps to distract him. Photos of him after a walk and many many hours of playing and his beloved Octopus which is his comfort toy. If he found his forever home he would bring you lots of laughter when he does his crazy zoomies lots of love and loyalty he really is a loving boy 🥰❤️

Long Walk and a play in the garden and Leo decided to impersonate a Daschund 😂😂😂😂don’t mind us. Four weeks of fostering dear little Leo and slowly he is blossoming, so pleased with himself that he now understands you can push a door open with your paws and your nose!!small steps turn into big steps ❤️

Leo drying off after a bath which he loves.
He still continues to settle more and he now loves his walks nowhere near as nervous if we see a dog we take him away to the side if we can and present his beef sausage and he calmly sits and will look back at a dog but does not react . This has taken some time to reassure him that another dog is not a threat and it’s much more nicer to have a piece of sausage . He is such a quick learner and a firm no is the easy way to tell him he is doing wrong and said in the right way he either goes under the settee or under the bed. Shortly after he will crawl back out as if to say sorry about that 😂😂then we say it’s ok and away his wagging tail goes again . For a Patterdale with maybe slight whippet in there somewhere with his long body he has a superb temperament. Yes he needs stimulation and a long walk a day but early evening like a child he normally puts himself to bed and that’s it ❤️🥰 He has such love to give and will make a companion that will love you endlessly ❤️

Sadly we had to take Leo back from his foster break but we have told him he can come again soon. He has been a star yes he is a typical terrier with high prey drive and can be reactive but a firm voice and continued interactions with him has certainly changed him in just two months . With most rescue dogs it takes quite a time for them to adjust to home life and to show their true personality’s in a trusted and peaceful home environment. He deserves every chance to have his forever home he loves unconditionally and loves affection from humans. Till next time beautiful Leo 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for giving little Leo such an amazing foster break. I visited him in his pen just to give treats and I am sure he is missing you. Hopefully a patterdale experienced person will be reading your posts and will decide to give him a home. He is a dear little dog and needs that. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:
