We had the lovely Rockie to stay with us again for 3 days: he’s a real character and has so much puppy energy but he’s starting to learn the rules in our home and is becoming a more relaxed dog around the house. This foster break we put more emphasis on training and he’s done so well.
He suffers from a bit of separation anxiety, always following us around if we get up to do something or jumping up at the door if he’s not in the same room as us. With simple commands like “wait” and exposure to us going in and out of the room, he’s become so much more relaxed around the house, is quicker to settle and seems happier for it.
He gets very excited when getting ready for a walk and can get grabby with leads, harnesses, hands etc. We did some training with treats - some were “mine” and others were “yours” which he responded well to. This translated really well to harnessing: he quickly realised if he didn’t bite the harness because it was “mine” he’d get a treat which made getting ready for a walk a breeze.
He’s so excited by everything going on around him that he tends to pull to where he wants to go which is something else we’ve worked on. Walking in a quiet area is best to minimise distractions, and telling him when he’s pulling “too much” and walking in the opposite direction has worked well. This still needs reinforcement but even on a short 30 minute walk he picked It up very quickly.
He’s been a pleasure to have at home: always up for a chilled cuddle and stroke, has silly fun playing with his favourite ghost toy, and loves a bit of tug of war. He loves a cosy nook and will often tuck himself under your legs or under the coffee table. He needs a home that will continue his training to ensure he is mentally stimulated and gets lots of exercise. He really is such a loveable dog and would fit well into most homes.

Rockie has been very good on his walks recently. He's excited and can pull to start but quickly settles. We also went into town to a park to avoid the worst of the puddles (Rockie is not a fan) and he did so well walking along the busy road! He didn't seem fazed at all by the noisy traffic with no lunging. He did pull a bit more, but I think this was mostly because it was all new and he calmed down later. Rockie is quite nosy and enjoyed standing watching a cyclist and a runner go by in the park. He doesn't bark at all, just silently watches
Rockie is such a sweet and loveable boy who is very ready for his forever home

Lovely walk with rockie today! He walked nicely the majority of the time but got to be alert to deer as he’s very interested! He did come away when lured with some treats and a ‘let’s go’! Stopped a few times for a cuddle too
