Marcel's Story: Marcel was rescued from a 'druggie house' by a family who didn't have the means to support him but approached a Rescue friend who asked us to help. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Marcel is now neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Marcel came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £300 (£500 for a pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Marcel's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Original referral information: We received an urgent message 19th Dec evening asking us to help Marcel whose owner had had him 2 months and could not afford to feed him

Marcel came into RescueRemedies on the 20th December 25

What an absolute cutie. Marcel is very friendly and was keen to say hello as soon as I entered his kennel. Harness on with no issues and he was keen to get out and explore. he posed for his photos beautifully and although I didn't get much time with him yesterday, he is so sweet, I will be looking forward to spending more time with him next time. He will be very popular with the walkers, so I might need to wait my turn.

Met Marcel today for our stint at pets at home for the rescue. This was the first time I met him and he was so happy to meet me. He tried to jump in the car but it was too high so I picked him up and he was happy. I clipped him in and let me shut the boot. He was a bit unsettled in the car to begin with, he settled down and then decided to have a party in the boot. I couldn’t see him but he was definitely rolling around. Then I saw once we got to PAH what his signature move was, what a character (see the video).

He is such a fun boy with the best personality. He does jump up at people and loves meeting everyone adult, child and dog. He was very excited to meet some children and did try and jump up. But calmed down and then had two children and the parent stroking him. He loved it and he loves attention. He is a sweet loving boy and I am quite sure will be an amazing snuggle buddy on the sofa. For part of our time he came and sat in my lap, for the rest he was lapping up the attention from everyone or on the floor in sploot position.

He wasn’t that interested in treats although he might of just been excited. He was watching the guinea pigs very calmly.

Our journey home he had a party but then settled for the rest of the journey. When we got back I took him on a little walk. He is quite strong for his size but is easy to walk.

I can’t imagine he will be at the rescue long what with his gorgeous eyes and fun personality. He is a sweet boy.

I met Marcel for the first time yesterday and wow, what a loving little dumpling he is! He literally flung himself at me for cuddles. Once out, he said hi to Chris and off we went for a short walk. He saw Mary in the paddock and was keen to say hi - well Mary is a beautiful calm girl, so I can see why Marcel was keen. I then took him to Lynda’s car, as he was due at the vets for a quick neutering op. He let me pick him up and help him into a crate. And off he went, with Lynda and Tommy. He’s a super affectionate pooch!

I met and walked Marcel for the first time yesterday. What a lovely little chap he is - there is always something endearing about a chubby little dog and in Marcel's case he was so endearing with his big ears and his little snuffly noises.
I had been told that he likes to walk in the company of another dog and so we tagged along behind and sometimes in front of walker Lynda who was walking the lovely Jupiter.
Marcel so enjoyed his walk and enjoyed his treats back at the kennels just as much. He loves his treats!
I too cannot understand why he hasn't been snapped up already but I shall certainly look forward to walking him again until that happy day arrives. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:

I was lucky enough to take the adorable Marcel out for the first time today. He was very friendly when I went into his kennel and was happy for me to harness him. When I returned him, he waited patiently while I struggled to get the harness back over his head.
Marcel was an absolute delight to walk. He was very keen (even though he didn’t have another dog to keep him company today), didn’t seem phased by passing traffic or people, and didn’t pull. He loved having a good explore and sniff – I loved the snuffling and grunting sounds he made while doing so!
He responded to his name and sat when I asked him to as we were crossing the road. Once we returned to the grounds, we spent a short time in the Poet’s Hut, where he rolled around and then climbed onto my lap for attention, cuddles (and treats!).
I look forward to walking him again very soon, assuming this beautiful boy hasn’t been snapped up by then.

Oooooh my goodness. We picked up Marcel on Sunday and let’s just say we totally understand why everyone loves him. What a cutie patootie. He’s slowly adjusting into home life and it’s lovely to see. So far we’ve learnt that he loves shoulder rubs, head massages, curling up under the duvet and “burying” his chews.
