Nigel and I are having a great time together. After a cosy morning and a walk to our local coffee shop we got into the car to do some errands - aside from bed I reckon the car is one of Nigel’s favourite places - loves to watch the world go by. He’s an excellent traveller, completely unfazed when I have to pop into the shops and leave him in the car, I even had some biscuits open and he didn’t touch them while I was gone! We then finished off the errands with some off lead ballie time in an enclosed field. This boy can’t get enough of his balls - he really is a big baby

Although Nigel didn’t find his forever home in time for Christmas, he still had a lovely Christmas period.
He had a great time on the Christmas Eve charity walk, the sun was shining and he was with all his foster friends, and he proudly carried his Christmas present with him.

Nigel and I then had a lovely walk on Christmas Day, it was another beautiful sunny day and he seemed to really have a spring in his step, he was a very happy boy. It was the best to be able to spend Christmas Day with Nigel

I’ve had Nigel for just over a week now and he has been an absolute joy to foster, so much so we have extended our foster time together. Even during a busy and chaotic time packing up my house for an upcoming move, Nigel has taken everything in his big, beautiful stride.
Nigel truly appreciates his home comforts - and so deserves them. He loves a good sleep-in (ten to twelve hours is ideal), followed by a big breakfast, a gentle wander around the garden to do his business, and a calm morning walk. He much prefers neighbourhood strolls and familiar surroundings over wide open spaces, which in London often mean crowds and off-lead dogs. While I haven’t tested countryside walks myself, he appears relaxed and content back at the kennels.
We recently visited Clapham Common for a change of scenery. It was cold, frosty, and snowy, and although the weather wasn’t his favourite, Nigel handled it well and enjoyed taking in the smells. He can feel a little nervous around large numbers of off-lead dogs in open spaces, so we kept the walk short and headed to the duck pond instead, where he happily explored the ice and calmly watched the birds.
At home, Nigel is relaxed, adaptable, and content. After the occasional goofy zoomies in the garden or a gentle play with his toys, he is more than happy to curl up for a nap - preferably on the bed in the sun, his favourite spot. Despite builders, boxes, and regular visitors, he remains friendly, welcoming, and unfazed and undisruptive. He also settles well when left alone for short periods, currently tested up to 4 hours alone with no problem.
As Nigel has grown more comfortable with the house, he has occasionally barked at the London foxes passing the front of the house, which feels very manageable with gentle training and simple environmental management (curtains). We are also gently working on his reactions (lead pulling) to playgrounds, which he finds exciting - particularly swings - so we practise calmly observing from a distance to desensitise, although momentary fixated he responds instantly to a “ Nigel come” or “this way”. Apart from that Nigel is pretty faultless - no resource guarding, no counter surfacing or stealing of any kind, occasionally barks but generally a very quiet dog, affectionate but not too licky or needy, playful and cuddly, easy to handle in all situations, trained and well mannered.
Overall, Nigel is a dream dog with simple needs: a comfortable bed, the occasional playful moment in between his naps, regular snacks, and his people and toys close by. He enjoys a busy, social household but is equally well behaved one-on-one. Anyone lucky enough to welcome Nigel into their life will gain a truly wonderful companion - easygoing, low maintenance, incredibly loving and affectionate, and royal.
