Sapphire on arrival ...a glimpse
Sapphire's Story: Sapphire has been found stray many times over the past years and was returned to her elderly owner. 2 days ago she was found stray very thin and with a flea allergy. Her elderly owner was traceable and Sapphire's fur and thin state was was caught and taken to a vet. They gave her steroid injection and flea treatment, checked no chip found. They were closing at 12pm and there was no one there for her so we took her in. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Sapphire will be neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccination. It is thought Sapphire has been deaf since birth but we haven't verified this. Sapphire is in Gatwick Cattery whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one or a pair of our cats, please complete our Cat Homing Questionnaire. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new cat within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay cats: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our cats need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our cats back-up for life.
Sapphire's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our cats, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Urgent call could we accommodate an elderly cat who has been straying for sometime. Vets was closing and there was nowhere for her.

OMG I just love this beautiful girl she is so affectionate. She is in very poor condition but I know the team at RR will just adore this girl and she will be spoilt and will be back to health soon.

Sapphire went to our vets today.
One thing you learn with a deaf cat sleeping they can give you a shock as they are non responsive initially to noise or movement! She then aroused herself as I carried her carrier into the vets thinking I may have a dead cat here!
Our vet assessed her and prescribed nexgard combo for her fleas infestation. He checked her over and found she has a missing cracked tooth with the nerve exposed so will extract when she returns in a few weeks time when she has put some weight on and the results from her blood he took, is returned.
Our Vet also chipped her and vaccinated her.

A couple of videos from Adrianne - what a gentle sweet soul Sapphire is - she hasn't given up wanting humans to love her despite all she has endured

Sapphire is just the sweetest little girl. Loves a cuddle and lots of affection, straight on my lap and lots of purring. Think she’d settle into a new home perfectly.

It frankly broke my heart when I first met this absolute gorgeous lady today! She looks so poorly, physically speaking....
But despite all that, she shown the most sweet nature. Gosh I'm in love with her eyes!! Just look at them.

Our best girl was very keen to see what I had in the treats bag today - so much so she nearly toppled headfirst into the bag!
Sapphire is absolutely amazing - after everything she has endured she is the most lovely, affectionate and trusting girl who will make the most wonderful companion for a lucky new owner once she is on the road to recovery
She is rather skinny at the moment but I'm sure the treats from her visitors will soon have her padding out a bit!

What a little treasure Sapphire is. Despite the troubles she has had and her poor state of health at present she is just wonderful. She is just beautiful in nature. Really friendly. A lovely little one who we all want to just make feel safe and loved again and get her healthy for her next chapter. She brought tears to my eyes - really sad to see her like this but hopefully she will get healthy again quickly with good care… just a little brave gem.
