It’s been a week since Bear came to stay with us and … what a wonderful dog he is!🐶
He’s come out of his soft furry shell and he’s a joy to be with. He loooooves going for walks. He doesn’t need to have long walks - he gets tired especially when it’s hot - but he loves being out and about. And meeting people. He does attract a lot of attention, as he’s such a beautiful dog, and he has met quite a lot of new people on our walks. He makes people smile. We take him on 3 short walks every day. He walks really well and he’s very chilled.🐾
Sleeping-wise, he sometimes sleeps in his bed in our room and some other times he prefers sleeping in his bed in the living room. He’s clean in the house and is very respectful of property.
During the day, he is very chilled and likes being with us while we’re working. He only needs 5 minutes of playtime here and there.
He has found his voice, too and sometimes, when he’s excited to see you (especially in the morning) he makes weird noises, like Chewbacca in Star Wars. 😂 He doesn’t really bark. And deliveries don’t bother him either. Our garden backs onto a park which sees a lot of dog footfall, but he doesn’t mind dogs barking around him, as long as the perimeter is safe, he’s happy.
He’s a bit of a picky eater and we’re still trying to work out a good eating routine for him. But we’re getting there.
We can’t believe he hasn’t been snapped up yet, but in the meantime, we’re enjoying his company.♥️
Just chilling ... ZZZ zzz

Bear is getting more and more confident every day. He’s now happy to go upstairs/downstairs without an invitation. Maybe he wasn’t allowed to do so in his previous home.

We found out that Bear loves car rides. He jumps in very confidently, lets us clip him and enjoys the ride and the wind on his nose.

He's the ultimate lapdog, as you can see in the pics. Well, this is actually the only time it’s happened so far. I sat on the floor and he decided to make himself comfortable on my lap. 🤣😂 He usually just lounges around on the floor or his bed. He's very gentle for a large dog. 34 kg of love! 🥰 And he keeps turning heads wherever we are. Such an ambassador for his breed. Sorry, lots of pictures, but he's so handsome we couldn't resist 🤩

Bear is enjoying the fresher weather and he’s been eating really well since we discovered his penchant for canned food. He loves his Butcher’s cans in jelly with kibble! He can be very fussy with his treats and didn’t even look at the ones he was given when we were at Pets at Home. However, he loves the very healthy salmon treats Chris’s mum got him. And he also loves sardines, boiled eggs and cold meat.
He loves walking and doesn’t mind traffic or loud noises when out and about - the other morning we walked past a giant tree shredder and he didn’t even look at it.
He’s a dream to walk and walks at your pace. He doesn’t mind walking with either me or Chris, or both of us, and doesn’t get anxious when one of us leaves the pack to go to a shop.
Chris’s dad came to visit and he was absolutely fine with him. He checked out the visitor and then went back to sleep.
He’s overall a very chilled pooch that is looking for his furever home and lots of love and care.

This was supposed to be a short foster … Well, the mighty Bear has been with us for a month! Time flies …! Bear is a wonderful pooch and we're hoping his furever home is just around the corner. :crossfingers.gif:

He has finally decided to let go of his winter coat, which for a double coated dog like Bear means shedding his light grey, fluffy, thick, winter undercoat and replace it with a light, summer one. The shedding started with his back legs and it's now slowly moving on towards his back and neck. It all comes off in chunks, like candy floss. At the moment, Bear looks like a half-sheared sheep - please, don't tell him we said that! - but we're sure he'll look really a bit tidier very soon. 0002.gif] He's definitely feeling cooler already. Akitas only go through this process twice a year apparently, once in spring for the summer coat and once in autumn for the winter coat.

At home, Bear is a great companion. He's very undemanding and perfect if you're working from home, as he’s very quiet and just likes to lie around and chill. He’s clean in the house and incredibly respectful of property. He takes treats very gently.

On a walk, Bear always gets a lot of admirers, as he’s very handsome and he’s happy to say hi to every human he meets.

If you're looking for a beautiful, chilled furry friend, do submit an application for Bear! thumbs.gif

Such lovely posts of this beautiful dog. How he must be appreciating his time in his foster break - must admit I had a little smile when we learnt about the shedding of his winter coat - beautiful boy, surely his home must be just around the corner?
