Today I was lucky enough to get to take Stan out
I had been told Stan likes sausages so I made sure I had plenty and we became friends instantly
He was happy to be going out and he led the way to the woods and we did the walk he does with Tricia
Stan even jumped on the log for a photo
He is a very beautiful boy a deep chocolate colour and has the loveliest eyes
Stan checked in with me constantly, fantastic eye contact and didn’t pull once
We came across a couple of dogs and he was a perfect gent
If you think Stan would be prefect for you please contact homing team

Got to spend some time with lovely stan again today
He really is so adorable
Stan happily trotted off with me once he saw i had a huge supply of sausages
We did the usual walk he does with tricia
Stan walks so beautifully with such endearing eye contact
He gave me such a goofy smile
We came across several other dogs and he was impeccably behaved
Stan would be so happy in a home of his own with terrier aware family

Stan and I had a very relaxing walk on Friday morning. He sniffed a lot, paddled in the stream and meandered his way around the woods.
He’s let me stroke his head before but this time it was initiated by him. Tricia has spent so much time with Stan, getting him to the point where he’s seeking out that physical contact and now sharing it with me (and others). I felt honoured and very emotional. Just imagine how he could be if he had that time with someone in a comfy and relaxed home environment. His giant brown eyes looking up at you with love.
When we got back to the grounds, he led me to the paddock. En route we’d found a brand new tennis ball and another smaller rubbery bouncy ball. This combination proved to be a very motivating and bouncy game of ball for Stan. He rested so I sat on the chair, tapped my leg and said ‘come here Stan’, he did and he plonked himself right on my feet for several back scratches. This is the first time he’s come to me for some physical contact. He’s let me stroke his head before but this time it was initiated by him. Tricia (Stan’s main walker) brought him for a visit to my house today. How lucky was I? Tricia’s spent a long time getting him to enjoy a car journey and little trip out in her car. We’d planned for me to meet them outside, not go through the front door but walk through the side gate. If he was looking anxious we’d go for a walk in the woods or over the lakes. Anyhow, he walked straight through, we went for a mosey around the garden. He did a wee against the medlar tree. He seemed so relaxed that Tricia put the long line on him to give him a bit of independence. He went straight in the house, found the doggy toy trug, got himself in it, had a good rummage, made his choice and took the toys on the lawn to chew and play. He walked straight past us and into the garden without a glance! He barked at us when he wanted us to kick the ball and play in the sun for a while and then settled down on a shady patch of grass. He only took dog toys, none of the other items around - good boy Stan.
I’d made sure that my family weren’t coming into the kitchen/diner without Tricia having Stan on a close lead as we weren’t sure how he’d be. We were pleasantly surprised by how relaxed he was. My partner had a brief gap between zoom meetings. At 6,2 with quite a booming voice, we thought Stan might be wary. Unexpected strangers could of course be scary in his mind. My partner arrived at the patio door, Stan had a bark but then (exactly as per instructions) came a sweet little voice saying ‘do you want a sausage Stan?’ This persuaded Stan he was ok. He took the sausage and barked no more. My Daughter then arrived and again Stan took some sausage with absolutely no reaction to her whatsoever. Only brief meetings but we can build on that. We took Stan back out through the front door this time. He tried to make his way back and then turn up the side of the house. It felt a bit sad him leaving but we are arranging another visit soon. It will be at Stan’s pace so that it’s a positive experience for him. Tricia and I were very proud of him today.
