Re: Georgie the cat DofB ?2005 - 11th February 25
This is probably the saddest forum post I shall ever write.
Georgie was always the rescue cat. He belonged to RR and his beloved presence was appreciated by all one and all. When I arrived at the rescue to walk I always looked out for him first and would worry until he appeared - sometimes not until lunch time - he had no doubt spent a lovely time hunting for mice and enjoying the freedom of the RR site and the woods.
After his surgery Lynne agreed that I could adopt him and a wonderful life started for us all. He got on with life after that traumatic event and lived every day with an infectious joie de vivre and exuberance. He was accepted by the other felines in the household as though he had been there for years.
He would chirrup and 'talk' and spent most evenings stretched out across my lap purring like a little train.
Latterly he had had repeat episodes of pancreatitis for which he was was being treated. There was nothing to suggest a new problem until he had problems breathing and had to be rushed to the vet where he was given oxygen and was treated for his heart before he was given peace as there was nothing else to be done. They did suspect maybe a clot in his aorta which can cause excruciating pain.
The vet was lovely and it was a very peaceful end for him.
Like all creatures Georgie you came into our lives and left us far too soon. Godspeed beloved Georgie. You were that cat in a million.

RIP Georgie, without doubt one of the RR legends, you lived the life you wanted and became loved by so many and found the family you wanted at the end when you needed a bit more help. Run free again little one xxx

Ahh, dear Georgie - the cat that lived at a dog rescue! You would always appear at some point during my visits, even if just briefly as you darted from one favourite space to another.
Thank you Helen for giving him a home when he needed it and for looking after and loving him until the end.
