This sweet boy is gaining more confidence every time I walk him, going up to some of our volunteers which is lovely to see as he was very shy at first. He is just a dream to walk and so sweet.

Nero is an absolute angel. It was at the end of the day and I had seen he hadnt had a walk so I went over to get him. He was barking at first (excitement) but I waited and he stopped and sat like a good boy whilst I entered his kennel. Harnessing him was a doddle and off we went. I’ve walked him a couple times now and he doesn’t seem nervous when we’ve been out. He does have a very nervous face which gets him all the treat!

This dog is absolute royalty and as such do not expect him to walk in muddy paths or he will put the brakes on whilst you figure out a more suitable route for his highness. He is such a pleasure to walk. I want to wrap him up and give him the throne he deserves.

Nero was my first choice today he just makes me smile what an amazing greeting off this big softy and he is so easy to get ready
He does not like mud and gives you side eye if you even consider trying to get him to go near any so we pick our walks accordingly
Nero decided he wanted to run today so that was interesting as running is not something I have done for many years so we did a gentle jog and I have put out an appeal to our fitter walkers to find him someone who will run with him
We had a plod around the side roads and any non muddy areas we could find
Nero is a big handsome boy with a heart of gold

Only my 3rd walk with Nero but today I got a smooch when I went in his kennels- my heart could burst as I know Nero can be nervous of people. How quickly he has trusted me shows how far he has come in the time he’s been here. He is so ready for his forever home.

Nero is a funny dog with so much personality. He makes me laugh so much on our walks. Today he didn’t want to turn around to go back even though we were still 20mins from the kennels. So I had to sit down, reason with him until he came round (video below)

His facial expressions are also hilarious. I called him to offer him treats and he looks at you like you’ve insulted his mother. Pauses, considers it, then finally taking the treat with the look of “if I must”. Sooooo funny.

He is a big boy but when we saw horses approach, he moved nicely out of the way and just watched. What a good boy!

This gentle giant is such a sweetheart and I know someone will fall in love him very soon.

Nero is such a gentle soul 💙 He plods along so calmly on his walks and really enjoys following another dog. He is such a friendly boy & so gorgeous to look at! My mum and I really enjoy our time with this big teddy bear. Here are some great photos of the wonderful Nero after he had been for his walk in the snow!

Mr Nero❤️
I love this young man. When I first met him he was extremely shy, he wouldn’t take treats, and he was just a nervous boy bless him. He has flourished, he’s so much more confident/happy now. Hes gone from cowering down to new people and refusing treats to walking over to people and asking for them. He’s such a big softie, and in my opinion looks like a lion 🦁 I love my walks with Nero. Sometimes he doesn’t want to walk far, and other days he does. On the days he doesn’t we just plod around the grounds and stop for cuddles. Lovely big softie.

This boy just gets better and better!!!!! Today we walked with Wendy and Danny, and he was spot on the entire way. I am not a brisk walker and he’s very good at sticking to my pace without pulling, quite happy to plod too, although I have also heard he likes a run with one of our other walkers too. I find Nero to be very responsive and gentle, going back on previous posts he has been nervous in the past, but once he trusts you he really is a big bear. When giving him bum scratchies, he really leans against you and melts, and you can get his leg going by giving him some nice scratchies around his collar too. He sometimes barks at people/dogs passing by, not every time, maybe he’s picky, but he listens when you tell him to move on. He’s just absolutely fantastic, he’s stolen my heart❤️

Oh Nero you are such a big soppy lump of love
love4.gif
He was very excited when he saw me coming and he pushes himself against you wanting cuddles
bighug.gif
Nero isn’t keen on the mud so down the lane today including a little jog then around the grounds to the memorial bench for a cuddle then the hut for another cuddle
Nero happily takes treats now and despite that permanent frown I think he’s actually a very happy boy
So excited for the family that eventually adopts him as he is so amazing

:nicethread.gif: thanks Karen. I hadn't been to the kennels for a while and when last I was there Nero wasn't a happy bunny (doggo) as was still settling. How pleased was I therefore to see such a change in him yesterday? He came up to the door of his pen, wagging his tail and was very happy to have some bits of chicken. Well done Nero. You have settled back into kennels and now you will be ready for your new home. bighug.gif
