Spud's Story: Spud was found abandoned and unclaimed within a South London pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Spud is now neutered, chipped, and undergo vaccinations. Spud came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Spud's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: We were asked to save Spud life "he can be reactive to dogs within the kennel setting".

Spud has arrived and has made everyone smile. He seems a really kind dog and he has been easy to handle and is just at the start of his 'holiday camp' adventure!

Well Spud came bounding out today full of character, sure made us all giggle. He seems very friendly and gentle so far! Excited to see how he relaxes into the kennel life, hopefully not for too long

Was happy to meet new boy Spud today! He’s got the cutest face I’ve ever seen bless him, and much smaller than I expected him to be; he’s a little man with a whole lot of cuteness. He walked beautifully, he really trots along, he was a pleasure to walk, didn’t have any problems at all. He was a little shy at first but once i got down to his level in his kennel he seemed to be a bit more brave, I did get one of the staff to help me put his leads on, more because I didn’t want to scare him as he is still very new and hasn’t quite got used to what’s going on at the shelter yet so thought it would be best to get someone he knows instead of a strange lady (me) and he was as good as gold! He absolutely loved his treats, he sits nicely for them too, definitely seems to like his food. I think once he settles in a bit more he’ll have so much character! Oh, he LOVES scratchies around his neck to the point I thought he was melting can’t wait to meet him again!

Spud used our Rescue as a launch pad into his new family life!
Today he met Carly & Rob and their very wonderful 'children' Poppy, Lola and Oz. Everyone concluded Spud is a people dog and he wanted to make friends with his family and wanted to become theirs!
Simone will share all!

Spud’s first night was great, he settled like he has always been here. He won’t attempt the stairs at the moment so bedtime was a family camp night in the living room where he slept snored and farted all night long. We love him.

Spud just keeps giving, he makes us laugh all the time with his funny ways.
He’s now coming upstairs but only when we put his lead on but once up there he has a cuddle in bed with everyone, gases each room out then leaves comes back to my room and instantly starts snoring and doesn’t move until morning.
He’s enjoying his walks, has encountered other dogs puffs his chest up and walks on by. He has become best friends with Oz and gets so excited when he sees him.
Spud is excellent and loved so much by each of us. We may have given him a new life but he has given us so much more
