Re: Domino Crossbreed DofB 6.6.22 Em Kenns
Domino day 7+8
Perfect in the house both night, I did let him up on the bed but he only came up because I was calling him up and even then it did take some encouragement, he slept well through the night only waking once that I remember and he is a dead weight on the covers so if he does become a bed dog, be prepared to battle for the covers.
We had a nice walk along the tow path, lots of I interactions with people, joggers and a few dogs which he didn’t mind, a few cyclists as well and as long as he knows they are coming he is ok and doesn’t mind, one did come up behind us which he didn’t like and did go towards, my fault for not being as aware as I should have!
On the way back we bumped into the cane corso puppy we had met before, she recognised him and they quickly began playing with each other and when we moved on they walked perfectly next to each other was was lovely to see.
In the high street we stopped out side a shop and did some people watching and lots of introductions and he was great!
That night we went to a pub and sat out side waiting for a pizza from a pop up, the outside was near the road but a small distance away, he sat well but did look a little unsettled, he said hello to a few people but when someone stood up and picked up there Christmas tree they had just brought he did start to growl.
In the pub he was great while I ate, lay on the floor next to me quietly, didn’t beg for food and seemed more relaxed, it was fairly quiet and the people sat nearby said a gentle hello.
I got a drink and changed seats to an area with a few more people and he was doing well untill a group came in in 3s and 4s and stood nearby, he did seem more unsure so we went for a walk outside before heading home.
The next day before taking him back to the rescue we had our usual morning cosy up on the sofa before heading out for a walk,on a long lead in a open space he looks so happy trotting around, will come back to you and then potter off for some more exploring, when he see something he wants to investigate it is easy to see and make sure you have the right pressure on the lead, if he does decide to chase a bird/squirrel he can quickly gain speed and could pull someone over if they weren’t expecting it, his body language is easy to read and prepare for.
We went to a new common to explore and met a friend with another dog, the other dog bounded over off lead saying hello and Domino was ok, did then get a little growly. But one we were walking either ahead of the other dog or behind he was happy to plod along. We were out for about two hours before taking him back to the rescue and saying goodbye for now!
Domino really is a lovely dog, he soft and docile at home, definitely has house manners and knows how to behave inside, outside he is just a bit unsure off at the minute, he is confident and happy to be out, quieter times and areas for him is definitely better starting out. I’m sure as he settles and learns his surroundings he will only get better. Please if you are interested in Domino take the time to understand him and his likes and dislikes, he will be a exceptional addition to any family and with a bit of training, confidence, patience and love he really will be a best friend!
