Mali's Story: Young owner took his own life and no one could take Mali (and Merci) in. The property is being handed back and they were needing to be put to sleep. They have lived with 2 young children. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving their lives. Mali is now neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Mali came into our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Lynne please help. I've tried everywhere their last hope was you. Is there anything we could pay for that would help if you took them ? I know everywhere is full I just think they have been through so much this week and for them to lose there lives would be heartbreaking. Claire
Mali came into RescueRemedies on the 9th Sept 24.

Had the pleasure of getting to know Mali this week when we went to the Vets and he was neutered, chipped and 1st vacinated. I had made the mistake of assuming Mali was the bigger in the pair; but no he is smaller than Merci who is more Mastiff mix. Has has definite Shar pei features and is staffie size and personality.

Mali was very easy to manage in the vets, easy temperament around dogs and travelled well in a crate alongside other dogs.

Pictures will soon appear as his rescue journey has begun.

Found out more info. Mali was homed as a puppy to previous owner DofB Dec 20. Merci joined him as a puppy DofB around 5. 2022. They had a litter in Nov 23 when Merci had caesarean and neutered same time.

I met Mali and Merci today who came into the rescue together. I took Mali and fellow walker Georgie took Merci.
Mali is extremely easy and gentle to walk and I let him dictate the direction he wanted to go. He did not pull or react to anything he saw.

Mali seemed to like the woods and had a few sniffs while we were out and about
The two of them are a real dream team

Mali is a lovely boy who can sometimes be anxious when going out for a walk. My dad and Tam continued on with Merci and Boo and I took Mali to the paddock when he decided he didn't want to go further. He was very excited and felt much more relaxed being in there. We played with the balls for about 40 mins, he was happy sharing them with me and he understood the rules of 'fetch'. He allowed me to stroke around his face and he put his weight into my hands. It was lovely to see him grow to trust me over that short period.

Considering what this pair have been through, I'm very proud of the way they are dealing with it all. I'm sure it would benefit them greatly to be back into a loving home. They'd make lovely companions :)
