New things about Rudy I've suspected but have now had confirmed and which make him even more loveable:
  • Rudy is very cuddly once he is comfortable with you and will lie as close to you as possible (and preferably on you/under you).
  • Rudy is happy to sleep in as long as you want to. When you wake up, he will then smother you in happy 'good morning' cuddles and kisses
  • Although he LOVES to splish-splosh about in puddles and the like, Rudy is scared of moving water, e.g. showers, the sea.
  • Rudy loves agility courses and will try his best to follow your instructions with joyful enthusiasm.
  • Rudy is a total charmer and knows how to use it - he almost got himself adopted three times in one day. Unfortunately all the people already had dogs and couldn't take another - as much as they fell for Rudy and exclaimed what a gorgeous, lovely dog he was.
  • I think Rudy might understand 'left' and 'right' but I need to explore this more.  Either that or he is just extremely tuned in to his walker.
  • Rudy is absolutely fine in busy, outdoor spaces and takes it all in his stride.
Anyway, Rudy came for a sleep-over and I had the most glorious time in his company. We went on fun adventures to an agility course, the seaside and village and countryside walks, played games and snuggled up at home together. I was very sad to take him back to the rescue.

Rudy is so perfect in the home. Please adopt him and give this great, funny, joyful boy a chance at happiness.

"You can sleep in your bed, Rudy". Rudy: "No thanks, I'll just lie over you".

Rudy came for the weekend. It was only supposed to be for one night but I enjoyed his company so much, we made it two.

Rudy has only been to my house three times but he seems so happy to be brought back 'home'; desperate to leap into the car, rushing to get in through the house doors, pleased to be reacquainted with his toys and fitting straight into a routine with no bother at all - it's as if he'd been there forever.

As per before, Rudy was an excellent house guest.
  • He went to bed when I did.
  • He slept until I woke up.
  • He played and he snuggled.
  • He relished every outing.
  • He always told me when he needed to go out to toilet, did his business and then waited calmly at the door to be let back in.
  • He was respectful to my possessions and furniture.
  • He was quiet as a mouse, save a couple of times when he mistakenly thought the neighbours were breaking in!
  • When Rudy wants something, he doesn't bark but licks you until you give in!
  • He was polite to everyone he met when we were out. Actually, he did steal a woman's football for a minute but then she was kicking it along the ground, towards him so what do you expect! He also barked at some fisherman. I think it was their ugly, brown tent he objected to or maybe he just really respects fish!
  • He travelled really well in the car.
  • He patiently let me wipe him down after some muddy-watery, off-lead fun.
  • He stood still whilst a bunch of four off-lead dogs with useless owners, encircled him on our walk. He sometimes doesn't like it if a dog invades his space so I was very proud of him for dealing so placidly with four of them (he got a treat for that)!
I think Rudy is a pretty perfect pet (and I love him an awful lot). However, you do need to keep in mind that he has been mistreated in the past and, underneath his joyful, friendly exterior, he is still sometimes wary of humans and their intentions towards him. He needs lots of love, respect and understanding and he will give you the same in return.

Took lovely Rudy to the paddock for a play. The sun hit his gorgeous face so beautifully. He really is a kind dog with a big heart and need for a cuddle and love. He’s so calm, loves a tennis ball and will happily play all day with one if you let him. He’s so handsome

May I introduce you to two sides of the gorgeous Rudy:

1. The playful, life-loving, funny, furry friend
2. The sweet, cuddly, chilled-out, sofa sweetheart.

Both are equally lovable, as I'm sure you'll agree. love4.gif

Rudy was a little star today. He helped with getting his harness on again, was delighted to be going for a walk, and took us for a long walk where he wanted to go. He behaved beautifully and was an absolute pleasure to walk. Love this boy love4.gif

Another fun and cuddly weekend with Rudy Rudes, AKA 'Rude Boi', AKA 'The Rudester'

I took Rudy for a walk in the wooded Hills on Sunday, on the way to lunch at my parents' place. I lost my bearings and typically, I also had no reception to check my All Trails app or Google Maps. I stood there tapping away on my phone in vain whilst Rudy waited patiently next to me... well, patiently until he realised I didn't have a clue where to go.

He gave me a very disdainful look which said "for goodness sake, you are a useless human and your navigation skills are appalling; Follow me". ...and off he trotted with so much confidence, I decided to let him lead me - this is despite him never going to this area before and me growing up nearby and walking there lots.

At one point I stopped Rudy and asked him if we shouldn't really go in a different direction. Again, I received the look of disdain and he pulled me onwards. All of a sudden, we reached the road which the car park (and my car) was on and we got safely back to the car without my maps. Rudy didn't seem to gloat; rather he looked glad that he had been able to help. I thanked him profusely.

Good boy, Rudy! thumbs.gif

Ha ha, brilliant - well done Rudy!

I've been very naughty and not walked you since you sadly came back us. However, I did see you today and give you a couple of treats - you were looking fabulous!

I shall walk you on my next visit dear boy. love4.gif

True to my word, I walked the lovely Rudy on my short visit to the Rescue today. He welcomed me like an old friend (I last walked him 3 years ago!) and we were off and out in a flash.

We headed into the village for my usual circuit and he was simply perfect! He liked frequent stops to take in the scents but they were brief and he was easily moved along if need be - not that either of us were in any rush.

On our return we went into the paddock and played with some tennis balls for a while, which he really enjoyed. Once thrown, he would charge off to fetch it and then leap to the top of the podium and present me with his bum so I could give it and tickles and scratches while he had a chomp on the ball! At the end of our session he ran over on my first call to join me at the gate and calmly let me re-attach my leads.

Rudy is a total smasher!
