We are on hols so the first few days it was mad walks to make-up for a ferry crossing and half a day in the car. He then managed to do something to his foot and has been limping so very short walks were prescribed. He stopped limping today so off on a proper walk across the viaduct and into the town across the river.

Lovely to see a photo of your handsome boy. I'm sure Father Christmas will have some goodies for Sid and Todd.

Today is Sid’s 11th we signed the papers Gotcha Day. He came to us in the February as a foster who never left so this is his official day.

He is incredible - always happy, stubborn as a mule, and in incredible shape for his age. He lives for his walks, food, cuddles with his people and a good sleep when it is that time. He drove all the way through France yesterday without a peep from him which is pretty incredible.

He really is a model for living in the moment. He wakes us up with a whine but a smile on his face, goes to sleep in an open crate (aka Sid House) and then joins us in bed during the night which is a moment marked by him headbutting one of us.

He is sitting in the sun now absorbing heat from the old stone walls behind him and from the sun in front of him. Todd keeps starting playtime with him and goodness knows he has the patience of a saint with Todd.

I’m off to the store in a little while to see what I can get for his dinner but the big celebration will be Friday next week when Peter flies in to join us.

Sid must belong to a culture that believes your soul is captured in a photograph as he gets a little uncomfortable with a camera or phone pointed at him. This is why I have less of him than Todd who is, quite frankly, a photo tart however here are some of him from today showing him enjoying a peaceful sunbathing session to Todd instigating play. You’d never guess their age…

Sid turned 14 1/2 today. At his age we celebrate every milestone so he had liver for breakfast, and liver ain’t cheap in France, with trout for dinner and supper. Todd was his dining companion and didn’t complain.

Looking good for his age:

Sidney has turned 15 years old today, not that you’d notice. He went for his annual boosters last week and the vet could not believe he is the age he is. Even with a heart murmur he still has the energy and attitude of a much younger dog. He absolutely loves life and throws himself into each day without any hesitation. He is a bit deaf, not Terrier selective hearing deaf, is a bit creaky getting up after a snooze and has to be careful with a front foot but he is in everything out on his walks. Most days we are picking goose grass or other seeds out of his beard.

He can be an independent soul but each day he wanders up next to us, shifting backwards on his bum until he makes contact, and demands a fuss. Favourite time of all is getting a back scratch from Peter and it is such a heartwarming time to see his eyes gently close as he is being scruffled.

He had roast lamb for dinner tonight, he will have chicken for supper and right now he is fast asleep under a blanket next to me snoring away.

Just waking up after making a made bed suitable for his needs

He has kept his cheeky, confident and loveable terrier character all his life and I hope more than anything that it keeps him going for a good while yet as he is such a loved little soul.
