Reggie is obviously just absolutely gorgeous and chilled.

As promised, here are my findings having just had Reggie on foster with me for a few days.
I first met him last Monday (the day he arrived at the Rescue, I believe) and we enjoyed a good walk. I walked him again two days later and that afternoon offered him some time out, getting the go-ahead from Lynne later that evening. So, I collected him at midday on Thursday and had him with me until mid-afternoon on Sunday.
He was very good in the car, climbing in and onto the back seat with the only prompt being me having opened the door. He stayed still while I detached his leads and clipped his harness to the rear headrest instead. He was perfectly at ease on the short journey to my house (only about 20 minutes) sitting for most of it, with just the odd spell of standing in line with the gap between the front seats so he could look where we were going. I had my window fully open and on a couple of occasions he also peered over my right shoulder, possibly to catch the breeze? Had the back window been open enough, I’m confident he would have liked to stick his head out of it!
Reggie had immediately struck me as being a very calm and well-behaved boy, so I hadn’t felt the need to hide anything or move things out of reach etc at home beforehand. And as I suspected, he was indeed a perfect house guest - he was SUPER chilled! He had a quick nose around the house and garden (neither of which took long!) before accepting an invitation to join me on the sofa.
As I have found with many of my fosters, he spent a lot of his time while we were in the house relaxing and catching up on sleep in the quieter environment of a home. He wasn’t really interested in playing or bothered with any of the toys on offer. He showed just a little interest in the knotted rope and simply didn’t know what to do when I bounced my “Chuckit!” ball for him! As is also typical, he liked to follow me everywhere, even when I thought he was nice and settled, or even asleep!
Reggie is a little skinny around his waist so is currently on a fairly generous (although I’m no expert) food plan, with a small lunch in addition to his breakfast and dinner. He certainly enjoys his meals - he would calmly watch me prepare them in the kitchen and then do cute little prances around me as I took into the living room. These weren’t mad leaps or attempts to get to the bowl before I was ready; just delight at the prospect of what was forthcoming!
When I was eating (typically while sitting on the sofa, so easily within his reach) he would come and take a look at my plate but never get too close or attempt to grab anything. After a few moments, he would step back and go back to what he was doing beforehand.
There were no accidents in the house; not even a suggestion of there potentially being one. Nor any attempt at marking, even though there must have been many indications of my own dog's presence around the house from his regular stays with me. As the weather was nice the patio doors in the lounge were invariably open for most of the day, so he had every opportunity to go into the garden and he did just that when he needed a wee. Overnight was not a problem either.
Reggie was always very happy to go out for a walk and would also do his cute little prance when he saw me reach for his harness. He would then sit (or sometimes stand) perfectly still, with his chin slightly raised, so I could easily put it on him - so sweet! Each day we would have a walk immediately after breakfast, followed by one sometime in the afternoon and then another in the evening. He enjoyed regular good sniffs on our walks but didn’t scavenge at all.
Because he walked so beautifully at the Rescue, I had no concern about walking him on my 5m extendable lead from the off, while he's staying with me. He would always walk ahead of me (but rarely at the full extension of the lead, and never where that was not appropriate), but with his frequent sniff stops, I’d be right alongside him again soon after.
He completely ignored road traffic and noise and the same was true for people. Dogs were not a concern for him either, although we only encountered a limited number of them and were sensible when we did, stepping aside to let them pass. Some further “testing” in this regard is required I think, but every indication so far is positive.
At bedtime, Reggie followed me upstairs (of course!) and soon jumped onto my bed. I did convince him to get off and into his own bed on the bedroom floor, but after 4 times of doing this and having him simply hop back up again once I had got settled, I gave up and let him stay!
I always find it hard taking my fosters back to the Rescue as it's very easy to get very attached to them, very quickly. Reggie is no different in this regard - as I type, I'm thinking about when I could have him to stay again!
No doubt I'll think of other things to add, so please check back for those - but, the headline is that Reggie is yet another "I would, if I could" dog for me!

Re: Reggie Staffie x DofB 21.04.15 Redhill Short Break
I couldn't resist... Reggie has come to stay with me again. He was neutered on Monday so I thought he deserved, and would appreciate, some further home comforts for a few days.
I walked him at the Rescue before heading home via Pets at Home - I had already bought some food for his stay, but had forgotten to get some extra treats!
As before, he was very good in the car although this time he spent most of it standing on the back seat, gazing out of the side windows.
He was also perfectly behaved in PAH, taking note of but otherwise completely ignoring, a small rabbit while we queued at the tills:
On getting home, he had lunch (with a chicken foot for pudding!) and is now taking it easy, which is the whole point:

Re: Reggie Staffie x DofB 21.04.15 Redhill Short Break
It became apparent later in the afternoon yesterday that Reggie has kennel cough, the poor sausage.
He's ok in himself and it hasn't impacted his appetite or his desire to walk, but he's certainly suffering from a dry cough and the retching that it leads to. I imagine it is quite unpleasant for him but he's being a brave boy!
To aid his recovery, I won't be walking him too far and will ensure he gets lots of rest while he's with me.

What is it with dogs hanging their heads over the side of things and supposedly being comfortable?
Reggie is snoring away like this, but his eyes aren't even closed!

Re: Reggie Staffie x DofB 21.04.15 Redhill Short Break
Reggie is a little subdued today.
While he wasn't too bad over night, his coughing is a bit rougher today. He continues to be happy to eat and walk ok though, although he hasn't been drinking his usual amount, so I have been adding some to his meals.
He continues to rest for most of the time (migrating between the sofa and the floor) and otherwise seems comfortable.
He also continues to be gorgeous!
