Mavis's Story: Mavis was found abandoned and unclaimed within a council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Mavis is now neutered, chipped, and undergoing vaccinations. Mavis came in to our Rescue Centre nr Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Original referral information: Hi Lynne

Just so I don’t confuse things this is Mavis. Mavis is a Staffie female she is three years old. She has tested well with dogs on a lead. Sadly we think Mavis has been beaten in the past as she is unsure of strangers, though warms to you nicely one overcome her initial fearfulness. Mavis has a patella issue on her a right hind limb, with lameness at the stifle region, she will bare weight on the limb but she doesn’t flex her knee properly when moving. She weighs 24kg and is 52cm at shoulder We have nowhere for her and she is being put to sleep tomorrow Please help !x C (WE saved Mavis xxLynne)

Mavis came into RescueRemedies in 11th November 23

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and walking Mavis today. She is extremely pretty and ever-so friendly. A little timid but was welcoming when I entered her kennel. She came over and pushed her face against my legs as I kneeled down to meet her for cuddles.
Mavis walked very well om the lead and enjoyed being out on the common. We bumped in to Jupiter and then later Magic and she seemed happy to see them without being too interested.
I doubt she will be with us for long but is going to be very popular with the walkers whilst she is!

Ooh so THIS is who the mystery beauty is that I was having a chat to through the paddock fence on Sunday.

Mavis stopped me in my tracks with her beautiful eyes! I absolutely had to go over and chat with her. She had a happy wiggly bum and waggy tail and seemed ok with me as a total stranger.

I had run out of treats at that point (I know right?!? What a useless ‘dog person’ I am) and all I had was a very old dog biscuit in my bumbag. Quite rightly, Mavis poopooed it, but was more than willing to come over and accept it gently and give it a go.

What a lovely girl. Can’t wait to see her again. But I think she will be gone quickly! Total stunner!

I got to walk with the adorable Mavis yesterday. Despite having just been spayed the day before, she was wriggling about with excitement at the thought of going out. Once out, she is keen on the lead but settles to a nice pace.

Well, I’m in love.

Mavis, what a poppet.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take this sweet girl out today. She was easy as pie to harness and get out of the kennel. She was a little nervous at first but soon warmed to me after she realised I had sausages! After posing for some photos Mavis and I went on a merry adventure with Tam and Hugo. Mavis is an absolute delight. Traffic, no problem, Dogs, no problem (she and hugo actually had a little sniff of each other, basically a snog in dog language, could this be a RR love story?! 🥰). She walked beautifully only pulling a little when we saw people because she was desperate to go and say hello.

I’m sure this girl will be snapped up in a heartbeat. Best be quick with those homing applications!!
