Maggie's Story: Maggie has grown up with her litter sister. As with many bitch pairs especially terriers they have occasionally fight Maggie's family have done everything for her and have been keeping their 2 dogs apart. Maggie is the easier and gets depressed. Maggie has lived with older children (aged 11 plus). Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Maggie is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Maggie is still in her own home whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Maggie's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal an evolving picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original referral information: "Maggie is a lovely dog however she has become 'depressed' living with her sister. The two dogs together are reactive at times but when Maggie is on her own she is not. It is sad for us as dog owners to see. We initially thought we would rehome Maggie's sister however after much consideration and a discussion at length with the charity we have taken the decision it would be much better for Maggie to be re-homed where she can become a happier dog and not under stress from her sister. We want Maggie to thrive to the best of her ability and this is not happening even though we are managing the situation for both dogs as best we can."
Maggie came on to RescueRemedies book in Aug 23

Hi
I'm Maggie's Mum with a quick update - Maggie is doing well, we recently changed her food to grain free and this has helped with a little bit of weight management! Maggie is still is the shadow of her sister and we still need to re-home her. x

Ideally because she is being 'bullied' by her sister Maggie would benefit from being the only dog in the household as constantly being with a physically bigger dog could intimidate her. However if the bigger dog is a visitor to the house that would be OK as Maggie gets on with most dogs of any size but is timid and her tail goes between her legs very quickly if she feels nervous. Hope that helps
