Bruce's Story: Bruce has lived outside all his 2 years old life. The house is for sale and that makes Bruce 'gardenless!' Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Bruce is now neutered, chipped, and vaccinated. Bruce was in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and we will only contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers in particular. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Original Referral information: 7th Nov 2021:Hi Lynne Just trying pot luck for a Rottie boy. Had an awful life.

URGENT RESCUE PLACEMENT NEEDED PLEASE..
Bruce is just over 2 years & has spent most of his life living outside
He was bought for a 15 year old who’s now moved away.
In fact Bruce it seems is home alone… The garden he’s in in littered with chewed sticks & litter… his shed door is half missing…
Probably puppy vac only Still entire
House is going up for sale & so Bruce will be homeless
We have had an assessment done & it appears Bruce just needs love & the direction. Dog life he hasn’t had..
he ignored dogs on a walk from across the road but he hasn’t been walked or socialised.
he’s been trained not to cross his border or to enter the property… so is a clever boy .. but he’s had love
Based northwest
Many thanks. Will be homeless shortly No one will help him Carolyn xx

Bruce comes on the 14th November

Oh my goodness me! - the handsome, loveable Bruce has arrived. It appears his mission in life is to share as much love with humans as is doggedly possible. Bruce gave me a very affectionate welcome into his kennel and ignored all the other dogs on the way out. He walked calmly on the lead, taking time to explore with his nose. We walked around the woods and down the lane.

Then we saw Tam arriving and Bruce was very keen to say hello. Delighted that Tam was as keen to see him and give cuddles, he was soon on his back wanting tummy tickles............

Then we walked back to meet Elaine who was also keen to meet him and share the love............

I have spoken to a lovely lady who picked Bruce up and she told me that despite Bruce living outside his previous owners did love him and kept him in very good condition. Whilst I would not have an outside dog he had two inside sheds and a heater in his kennel and he has been trained very well. They were upset at him leaving so I wouldnt want then to think they were bad owners because of my original referral to Lynne which is why Lynne was happy to take . Unfortunately due to their culture dogs are normally kept outside but he was loved dearly. They also spent a lot of time with him but due to son moving to college he wasnt getting the interaction they felt was fair. So they did the right thing for him. As always Thank you Lynne for taking him xx

I had the honour of meeting and walking Bruce on Wednesday and what a stunning boy he is. I was welcomed into his kennel like a long lost friend. He waited patiently whilst I clipped on and the. We were off. It was clear Bruce was very happy to be going out but he was very respectful and no pulling on lead. He got a little excited and pulley when he realised we were joining a group walk and it became clear he probably hasn’t had much opportunity to meet and greet people or dogs. Despite that and some gentle whining it was obvious he just wanted to play, no aggression whatsoever. I decided it would be best if we broke off and spent some one on one time which Bruce loved and we walked and cuddled our way round the woods.

Once back at base Bruce tried his best not to go back to his kennel as he just wanted company but unfortunately I had to reluctantly return him but I am very much looking forward to our next outing soon.

Bruce really is a cracking bit. He has clearly been loved and is a well rounded, affable rottie who just wants a human to squidge his cheeks love4.gif love4.gif

I had the total pleasure of taking Bruce the great out for a walk today .

I had not met him before but he was instantly very friendly and very easy to take from his kennel run and wisk out for a walk.

I had to give him a big cuddle or two as he loves it and has a really squooshy face , with those big brown eyes 💖

We went round the village and he was really good not pulling until we saw another dog across the road and at this point I realised , Bruce is still getting used to walks and exposure to other dogs and people , he pulled a lot but silently so no barking and growling but I made sure I had a firm grip on the leads !

Bruce knows sit and takes treats gently and is eager to please and craves affection.

Let’s get this fabulous boy into a home , he really is a great soul with a superb temperament who just needs a home used to big dogs and who can put the time in to get Bruce used to being out and about in the big exciting world !

Awesome character !

I was delighted to be taking Bruce out for a walk on Wednesday as he is just the best boy. I got a super friendly and happy greeting as I entered his kennel and we were soon clipped on and heading out towards the paddock for a good run around. Bruce seemed super excited to be free and charged about the paddock with the biggest grin on his face before heading over for the most lovely cuddle, complete with the obligatory sitting on my foot which rotties seem to favour 0002.gif]. Like most rotties Bruce loves a good cheek smoosh and gets the most enormous smile on his face as you massage his cheeks. love4.gif

Bruce was also keen to try and make friends with any human or dog that walked past even if the passing dog was not at all friendly! Bruce will need a little guidance in this area as it is clear he has not had much socialisation and he gets a little overexcited. However there is absolutely no sign of aggression just an eagerness to make new friends and this is a good indication to me that he could possibly live with another dog with the right introductions and experience in the home. positivo1.gif

After a good run around Bruce and I headed out for a walk. Initially there was some excitement and pulling but once away from the kennels he settles nicely and is a dream to walk. If he picks up a scent he does pull and when he does he is a strong boy but he listens and stops when asked (generally!).

Bruce is just a cracking dog all round, fun, loving, eager to listen and learn, friendly and just a general goofball. It is clear he has been loved and has a good foundation for his new family to work with and I have everything crossed that Bruce will find his forever sofa in time for Christmas. In the meantime he will definitely be top of my list to walk Kiss of love.gif
