Gizmo's Story: Gizmo was bought for 'mother' for company. He came out of a high rise flat living with a child, but when they got him to their mothers she decided she wasn't 'doggie' and little Gizmo had nowhere to go. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place. Gizmo is now neutered, chipped, and vaccinations in progress. Gizmo was in boarding kennels near Gatwick and now is foster as on only pet whilst awaiting his new family.
If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and sadly due to unprecedented interest, we will only be able to contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Little Gizmo has come into us having been bought as a gift and is too much of a handful for the elderly lady to walk.
Gizmo came into our Rescue 10th January 2021

Re: Gizmo Jackchi JRT x Chihuahua DofB 07.19 Gatwick Kenns
Gizmo had an eventul day today and visited our vets for neutering and vaccination and full health check. He is doing really well in the kennel environment and meets dogs well through the paddock fence and out on his walks. He is a little too easy to pick up and carry so has all those Chihuahua hallmarks' I'm a little vulnerable so comfort me and and let me enter the human world to escape being a little dog down here. We defo will be helping Gizmo to find his feet but he will get lots of cuddles too when appropriate

Gizmo is a nervous little soul but sweet and friendly and yes he feels safer and happier being carried and cuddled. We managed a fun walk around the woods, Gizmo enjoying having an explore and a good old sniff around.

Just can't wait to meet and walk him.

Oh my what a sweetie Gizmo seems to be gaining confidence and was very happy to be out in the sunshine this afternoon, he wasn't fazed by the busy road, passed dogs well and no problem to negotiate all the obstacles in the woods...
he managed most of the mud - just needed a 'lift' when it was deeper than his little legs!
Re: Gizmo Jackchi JRT x Chihuahua DofB 07.19 Gatwick Kenns
I was very happy to meet Gizmo at the weekend, and loved saying hello in his kennel He was very keen to say hello and put his teeny little paws up onto my leg to check me out.
His harness was all a bit skew-whiff and he was very happy to let me unclip, reposition and clip back up before getting his leads on and out we went!
He is very chihuahua like in nature, he was somewhat shivery and unsure, but we got into a bit of a stride and he led the direction for much of the way. However at one point he seemed to get himself 'stuck' and unsure where to go, and then wouldn't budge So I had to swoop him up into my arms (so cute!) for a 30 second repositioning and then he was happy to go again.
Coming back to his kennel, he definitely seemed to crave more attention and was really not keen on me leaving, he seems very used to human contact, I had to tell him to stop giving me puppy eyes!
Lovely little boy, I hope he gets homed soon so he can feel save and loved ❤ I would certainly be happy to have him on my sofa!

I met and walked Gizmo today for the first time. In fact, we had two shorter walks - first thing and last. He is a sweet, diminutive little chap who has the most amazing ears. He did shake a bit and needed some encouragement to get going but bless him he was quite vocal later in the day when he told big dog Kami who was the boss by barking at him. Once back in his kennels I gave him some cheese and left him in his bed. He wasn't too happy about my going so I hid bits of cheese in his bed for him to find. I have a feeling he won't be with us for too long.

This little chap and I are now best friends! He seemed to love the two little walks we had today although he is not a fan of the heavy traffic that thundered past and so there were a few occasions when I picked him up for a minute or two. The rest of the time he kept up a good pace. He is very interested in other dogs we passed and loved having a little bark at them. Once back in his pen he really enjoyed the cheese I gave him. Dear little soul - let's hope he is not waiting long for his special person who will keep him safe and happy.
