As all good things must come to an end, so too Buds’ foster respite, and he has now returned to Rescue Remedies in Gatwick.

He is, indeed, a beautiful boy. A boy who’s had some tough breaks in his life and who desperately needs to find his home.

Buds is sensitive to his human and is loving and loyal. He enjoys being close, and giving and receiving affection. He’s lovely company.

He settled rapidly into home life and was no trouble. He was easily persuaded to leave things alone and was totally non destructive. He’s also completely clean. No accidents or marking whatsoever.

Buds was sleeping next to me in his own bed after the first few nights on mine and slept all night and didn’t disturb me, only rising when he knew I was awake and ready to get up.

He’s very intelligent and knows how to communicate his wishes. Whether that’s sitting by his bowl in the morning when he wants his breakfast or going to the front door in the afternoon, looking back at me in the hopes of a walk. Or sometimes sitting by the patio doors, an innocent paw gently touching the glass pretending to want to use the garden and as soon as I got up, bounding off to the kitchen in hopes of a treat. Scallywag!

Buds can be left for a proven short period. Using my voice recorder, I was able to hear what he got up to when I went shopping. There was no barking or whining. He trotted to the front door a couple of times, had a drink of water and was found an hour later lolling on the sofa in the sunshine.

It’s outside where Buds is most challenged. What he needs is to have is a safe place to burn off all his nervous energy-the byproduct of kennel stress. This could take a few weeks. Then he would be able to take outdoor life, in particular seeing other dogs, more in his stride.

He would then need low dog density locations to walk in and a thoughtful programme of slow desensitisation to get him overcome his anxieties. It’s all very doable. And to the right person committed to his recovery, it wouldn’t take too long. But he LOVES to go for a walk and to sniff and to observe the world.

He can be stubborn and mischievous to the point of devilment but it’s never with malice. Aspects of this behaviour could lessen or disappear altogether with training and/or when he was settled and knew he was home to stay.

Buds is a fabulous boy, who despite years of hardship hasn’t let the beauty of his soul diminish. He has the potential to mature into a wonderful dog. After two and a half years in rescue kennels he really needs to find his forever home and feel safe, secure and loved.

Thank you Deano's Mum for giving Buds such a lovely foster break away from kennels. He looked his usual sad self when I passed him once or twice today but he soon bucked up when I gave him an extra specially large bone. I do the bone run on a Thursday which most of the dogs love and Buds is no exception. He took his bone ever so gently from me. Come on special person who will adopt this lovely boy - Buds would really enjoy having his own sofa. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:

Another fun outing with my best boy buds yesterday. Buds always greats me the same way with a happy little dance a single bark and sniff of pocket to say oi where’s my sausages 😂. After a quick treat he’s happy to get ready for the off and is happy for me din his muzzle and leads and then we’re out. First stop as usual was the paddock so Buds can indulge in his first love, chasing tennis balls. The utter joy on his face is heartwarming to watch and given the chance buds would happily run after a tennis ball and return it to you for hours, only stopping occasionally for a chew of said ball whilst receiving bum scratches which he also loves.

After a good run about it was time to head for a walk in the woods. Buds generally walks well on lead with little pulling. We came across a couple of dogs on our walk and moved a good distance to side so they could pass. Buds is anxious of other dogs and so we are working hard to help him understand he doesn’t need to be scared and bark to try and scare them off. Yesterday he did really well and we were quickly back on the trail. Despite the cold weather buds insisted on a quick dip in the stream. Despite his potential strength buds is always very good going down the slippy bank and respectfully complies to the wait command. Once at the bottom he waded straight in and bounced about with joy until he realised how cold it was and then he was back out and shaking himself off 😂.

Buds is such a loving soul and whilst he will need a home with experience to offer guidance and time to settle in a home and trust his new family in return you will get such a fun, goofy and affectionate dog. My greatest wish for Christmas is for this wonderful lad to find his special humans and have the opportunity to show what a beautiful boy he is 🥰🥰🤞🏼

Oh buds what a sad story he's been waiting so long, we rehomed blue back in 2019 they must have been kennel buddies at some point.

Took my best boy Buds for a spin yesterday. We started off as usual in the paddock so Buds could have a good run around and destroy a couple of tennis balls 0002.gif] afterwards we went for a bit of a walk although Buds was not overly impressed with this idea thanks to the wet muddy conditions. We met a lovely lady walking her dog and buds was a little vocal but he is getting better with these random encounters and he now keeps all 4 paws on the floor and just makes a frustrated kind of noise. His new humans will need to continue to work on his socialisation and dog reactivity.

Buds is such a lovely friendly boy who likes to learn and is desperate to his home with people who are prepared to let him settle. He is good with humans and has loads of love and kisses to give if only someone would give him a chance. 🥰🥰

Had a little spin out with Buds and ended up....chasing balls in the paddock. He's a good natured boy and easy to please.

Took my best boy for a spin yesterday and as per usual Buds was having none of this walking lark until he’d first visited the paddock. Now despite Buds’s love of water he is not a fan of the mud and so the big paddock was a no go thanks to the very wet conditions we are experiencing at present but we did manage a little kick about in the small paddock. Afterwards we went a nice walk round the village with friend Kami and Tigga, all the dogs were relaxed in each other’s company although Buds did show his nerves with some shouty communication when encountering some local dogs.

Buds is an anxious boy and he shows his nerves and lack of social knowledge when out by warning people with his barking. In the home though he is a good boy. He is really struggling in kennels at present and doesn’t understand why his forever family haven’t found him yet as he tries so hard to be a good dog and is very eager to show off his learning skills. Buds is a typical staffie who is loving and happy and just wants to be loved. I so hope Buds’s people find him this 2021 as It would be amazing to see this sweet boy happy and smiling again.
