Bruce's Story: Bruce was bred and homed at 6 weeks old and then swiftly bonded with his humans. He has never tolerated dogs except for the parents cockapoo. Bruce has to wear a muzzle on his walks. He was often taken for runs as his owner jogged. New baby in the family and partner cant take the risk of Bruce getting out of the front door now there is a pushchair etc. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Bruce is neutered, chipped, and vaccinations are in progress. Bruce is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Bruce's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: We were asked to help as Put to sleep was the only alternative as Bruce had nowhere to go

I spotted this gorgeous boy curled up in his bed yesterday looking a little bewildered, but also interested in what was going on.
He will absolutely flourish in the care of Rescue Remedies.

Bruce is doing sooo well, he met quite a few new people today and was such a good boy, getting to grips with life at the kennels - he said hello to me whilst he was having a walk with Natalie and then I joined them both in the paddock, boy does Bruce love a tennis ball !!!

Some videos of Bruce!

It took lots of tennis balls but we managed to tempt Bruce out of his bed and for a walk on Thursday. As soon as I got out of the kennel grounds his tail was wagging away and he kept looking back to check I was still with him. :smiley-chores002.gif: Bruce really blossoms in the paddock where he loves to play! He loves contact and frequently touches you with his nose/muzzle on a walk for reassurance. The phone videos in the video above are from our first day of bringing him out where he made friends with Ella, Anna and I and he has since met both Sarahs and Eddie beautifully.
Bruce's nervousness can cause him to have a bark and a bit of a lunge towards new people when he is feeling threatened of if they get into his space but he is perfectly happy to be walked muzzled, thus negating this as an issue with a handler who is savvy of his anxiety. As soon as he knows someone, he is friendly, happy and playful with no edge and he appears to be less stranger and dog reactive once he's had a good run around and play to relax. Bruce is so handsome and such a wonderful character. His personality and behaviour once he's accepted you embodies how wonderful staffies are - a lovely mix of playful, cuddly, smart and athletic! love4.gif
