Melody's Story: Melody was handed in as her homeless owner couldn't look after her anymore. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Melody is now neutered, chipped, and vaccinations are in progress. Melody is in foster near Gatwick with 2 chihuahuas and a Jack Russell and lots of cats whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Melody's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: Melody's owner was a homeless man who couldn't look after her anymore.

We changed Melody’s name to Nelly or Nell for short. She travelled very well in the car, and then we gave her a lovely walk. Nell was great on the walk, very good with the people who stopped to say hello and the dogs too. With our family, she’s very diplomatic and careful to make sure everyone gets the same amount of attention from her! After dinner Nell watched tv, taking up a lot of space on the couch, until she quickly dozed off. When everyone was going to bed, she popped in to her own bed. However half an hour later when the house was quiet, she came stealthily in to our bedroom and very politely jumped on to the bed and went to sleep! Betty the cat is keeping her distance but we hope, given a few weeks they’ll tolerate each other. Nell’s not crazy about the cuisine we’ve offered so will have to work on that until we find food she enjoys - apart from Betty’s which of course she wants more than her own!

The girls! Nelly’s fitting in brilliantly. She loves to play and she’s happy.

Dear All
This is proof, if proof were needed, that a Staffy can enjoy a loving relationship with a pussy cat! We rescued Corky the kitten last September and Nelly loved taking on maternal duties. If she could have squeezed through the cat flap after him when he was finally allowed out in the garden, she would have.
Nelly now lives with 2 cats and a leopard gecko and is a much loved member of the family.
