If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum Adoption Donation is £250 (£400 for pup under 1 yr old). This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Hugo's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Re: Hugo Mastiff xStaffie DofB ?2016 Gatwick Kenns
Geoff was lucky enough to be the first person to walk Hugo and his verdict is, this is a smashing boy. He has a lovely square shaped solid head, but he isn’t as big as you’d expect, about the size of a large lab. He is also very soft and well behaved. Hugo likes to keep his lead taut so that he knows you are on the end of it, but he doesn’t pull. He seems to be very dog friendly, but he was a bit too interested in a cat they met! He either didn’t see the squirrels or ignored them. He’s an easy boy to walk, and although Geoff took his time putting his harness on as it was the first time he’d met Hugo and Hugo is a new boy, Hugo was very good and was happy to have his harness put on. I think Hugo is going to be a favourite with the walkers until some lucky family adopts him. Xxx

Hugo is a lovely, friendly, energetic boy. He was as good as gold having his harness put on and was a good boy on the lead.

The one that nearly got me.....
Very difficult to put him back after our walk. Very sweet and gentle doesn't pull, constantly looking back to check your there, gentle when he takes treats. Whoever is loo king for a stunning dog should be looking at this boy or monty............. HOT TO TROT...

What a lovely boy! Hugo was a pleasure to get out and walked like an absolute dream He wasn’t too interested in being fussed and just wanted to sniff all the sniffs! So happy to see he has been reserved, I’m sure he will make a lucky someone very happy! Good luck Hugo!

Great night, Hugo slept soundly on and beside my bed all night - up and out for a toilet break at 7.30 this morning (from 10.30 last night ) and then back to bed for a lie in - well it is the weekend !
It’s very windy outside and the noises do unnerve Hugo a little - but only occasionally. He did bark last night when he heard some noisy folk were in their way home from the pub ! Mind you they quietened down when they heard his deep bark ! And he was trying to get to sleep
Hugo is housetrained for sure - But I’m not yet clear on his signals for needing to go outside so we had one accident last night and one after breakfast this morning - I’m getting better at knowing when he wants/needs to go out so I don’t foresee any more. He’s used the garden when I’ve given him the chance so many more successes than the 2 accidents - good boy Hugo
Hugo loves a chew and has really liked the flavoured chew bone this morning which he chose from the toy box ... And here’s the clever lad sitting like a pro before I put his breakfast bowl down - no worries at all with me around his food ...
