Penny's Story: Penny was found stray/abandoned and unclaimed within a Northern council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Penny is now neutered, chipped and fully vaccinated. Penny was in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Penny's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Beautiful sweet little girl
This was the face that melted my heart this afternoon Bless her she was shaking and quivering in her kennel and desperate for love when outside.
Walked into my house and she’s an absolute angel, made herself right at home, good as gold, demonstrated she’s housetrained, loved her dinner, and loved her snoozing on the sofa. She was happy to leave me alone as I ate my dinner on my lap this evening. Without doubt knows what love is and bestows it on her humans (any human who looks her way!!!) with gusto

Some more lovely photos from her photo shoot yesterday where she was enjoying cuddles from anyone passing and charming everyone with her soft, friendly, sweet, cuddly nature.

What a lovely eeekend we’ve had, Penny is such a sweetie pie
Totally housetrained, not a single accident or moment, such a good girl
Loves to have her belly rub, think that is her fave thing of all
Great with visitors, loved everyone of them ! Had a guy round to look at my roof who has a staffy and she greeted him lovely and trotted around the garden whilst we looked up to my roof ! Had Lara and Ollie to stay last night, Lara is the daughter of my friend and she and Ollie are absolute dog lovers - Penny moved straight in for belly rubs and cuddles with them both and she has this very cute way of making you continue if you stop by manoeuvring her little body and using her nose to get back into position where you just can’t refuse !
Perfect around her food, no issue with me in/by her bowl, eats beautifully, no great rush, sometimes splits her breakfast to save some for elevensies !
Loves her walkies, has a little happy run around when she sees her harness and lead ! Good girl for an easy harness on and more excitement before I clip in her lead at the front door ! She’ll sit then like a very good girl, full of excitement !
Penny will pass other dogs with no noise at all but she has a quite intense focus on them as they get closer, happy to watch and doesn’t pull towards or away from them but keeps a very close eye. Happy to walk on once they’ve passed and get back to enjoying her walk and leaving sprinkles so the other dogs know shes on the block !
We walked with Charlie and her little Oscar this afternoon, we kept a sensible distance between them and Oscar was a star, ignoring and enjoying his walk in front - Penny was much less relaxed walking with another dog in the vicinity than on her own and was focused most of the time - but still just looking, no barking or noise from her but pulling on her lead which she doesn’t do on her own. If we were in front she would try and look back. Bless, she was so tired and thirsty when we got back to my car. Hopefully we can help Penny relax a little more with some parallel walking at the kennels but also give her time on her own so she gets to sniff and snuffle !
Enough words, time for pics of this little beauty, she is teeny (smaller than the pics seem to suggest) and an utter sweetheart

I decided I was long overdue sorting out my very full wardrobe in my bedroom on Saturday - Penny kept me company and found the sunny spots whilst they lasted on my bed, then continued her lovely snooze when the sun had gone
