Persia & Rockford's Story: Persia & Rockford both their owners died and son was unable to offer them long term home. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving their life. Persia & Rockford are neutered, chipped, and vaccinations are in progress. Persia & Rockford were in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting their new family.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Persia and Rockford are a pair. Owner adopted them from a rescue that closed down, not sure of name. His wife died and he took to drink. Committed suicide on her grave. Dog warden knew him personally as she’d tried to help him. Son can’t keep them.

Persia and Rockford came into the Rescue on the 13th May 2020

Reading this story froze me in my tracks. How utterly tragic for all concerned. Grief and loss of a life partner is devastating. I pray the owner’s son finds some peace and these two dogs find a loving home through the care and love of the RR family.

We had a nice walk with these newbies today - stayed in the cool of the woods, they are a little on the rotund side but that didn’t dent their enthusiasm and Rockford was keen to push out in front !

They are lovely - both enjoyed munching on the fresh tasty grass ...yum yum xxx

Persia wasn’t sure about stepping over a log (defo not an agility dog !!!) and dropped behind Rockford and myself - Rockford was keen to look out for his girl

Heather and Brian's hearts are so large they wanted to help 2 dogs this time... they wanted to help 2 Staffies and they only waited 2 weeks and Persia and Rockford arrived in need of their devotion (With Heather and Brian their dogs get devotion) and care. Persia and Rockford have had a rough ride of late and now they can begin to rediscover life.

No photos right now, we have been focusing, with hands full, on new doggies, new furbabies, new loves. These dear hearts have a home now. A new home. We are so sorry for the sadness experienced by the owners / the carers that came before us. Our hearts go out to you. But know, these furbabies are safe, they are home, they are loved. We are committed (not the madness kind, though dog madness helps) . Our dear Luna Staffie passed from our reach, but not our love and memories, in April. She was also an RR Wonderdog, wonder rescue. Our thanks, deep gratitude and blessing, always, to the wonderful Rescue Remedies team, Lynne and Luisa. We love them and respect them deeply, they are truly wonderful, always. Our applause to them is part of our noise raised on Thursday at 08.00 evenings for essential front line workers. RR is a part of that. We sincerely hope that people's renewed value of dog family members/companions and green spaces continues strongly beyond Covid. These are precious resources, that must be protected. For those considering adopting, have recently adopted, have faith, be patient. There are growing adjustments in all things. Both from the personal and from the canine side. Everyone has gone through stuff, none of us are "perfect". None of that matters really. These furbabies will reward and enlarge and allow your world to expand gloriously. Your life will be richer for their presence. When they pass there will be pain, but the joy and the pleasure and the wonderful memories outweigh all that a million fold. You will enjoy life more than ever. Be patient. They are so worth everything. Have faith.
