Penny's Story: Penny was taken in as she needed a home, she is now looking for a permanent home. Penny is a good all round Staffie x, high energy but so loyal. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Penny is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Penny was in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

I met the gorgeous Penny this afternoon she is such a lovely affectionate girl. I was just going to go into her kennel to say hello and make a fuss of her but she seemed desperate to get out for a walk which is what we did. She was very easy taking out and returning to the kennels, she is a bit confused at present as only just arrived. When we initially set out she had her tail between her legs and seemed very unsure but she soon began to relax and up came her tail. She had her nose close to the ground most of the time sniffing all the new smells. When we got back to her kennels I made a big fuss of her which certainly got her tail wagging. She didn't seem interested in her sausage treats but just wanted to be close. It was very hard leaving her. Heart fill with love.gif]

I took Penny out for a walk today, it was my induction as a volunteer and I loved walking her. She had great energy and was happy to walk on the path together with me, and happily stopped and waited when we let other dogs go past! She was very alert taking in all new smells and I can imagine her loving long long walks! After her walk we sat on the bench for a bit and she actually jumped up to sit next to me and rested her head on my shoulder. She seemed like a very sweet girl, eager to please, waggy tail and all!

I took the gorgeous Penny out again this afternoon, she was anxious for me to attach her leads as soon as possible so she could get out for her walk. We went on quite a long route, we went past a house with chickens and ducks running around in pens which Penny didn't take any notice of. We also had a couple of dog walkers pass by, Penny seemed keen to socialise with them but I kept my distance just in case. She has such a lovely temperament. When we got back to her kennel she leaned into me whilst I made a fuss of her. love4.gif

Penny is certainly a lovely dog and I enjoyed my first walk with her today. She was keen to exit the kennel for her walk but was not difficult in any way. En route we stopped at the Poet's Hut for a cuddle. From necessity, the walk was quite short and Penny wasn't in any rush to go back. But we had another cuddle in her kennel bed and she didn't make a fuss when I left. Unusually, she shows no interest in treats. She'll make someone a lovely pet so I don't think she will be with us long.

I wish I could take this girl home! Lucky family who ever gets to adopt her. Lots of fun to be had with Penny, she enjoys games, sticks, football, tennis balls and cuddles! She loved her ball so much, she kept hold of it when I returned her to her kennel at the end.
You can tell she has been trained by somebody as i asked her to sit mid play and even full of excitement she sat very quickly. She was not interested in treats at all, just happy with lots of strokes for praise. She walked very well with me and no pulling, just tail wagging all the time!
I sat with her in the hut, and she laid in the dog bed as soon as we went in. I encouraged her up on the sofa to sit next to me, which she did and we had a lovely cuddle.
She was so well behaved when I went into get her out of her kennel. No barking or jumping up, she waited patiently and happily lifted her legs to put her harness on.
Get your adoption forms in quick, I have a feeling Penny will get snapped up!

I walked with Penny today. She is gorgeous. She was easy to harness and was happy to get on her way. She loves to sniff everything! We passed a couple of dogs both on and offlead and she ignored them all. A very easy girl to walk. She loves sausages and takes them gently. Back in her room, I sat with her for a while, she gives lovely cuddles and is happy to be stroked and have a fuss made of her. I then found a ball and we had a little play. She bought the ball back to me and was happy for me to take it from her mouth! A gentle girl who I hope finds her forever home soon. angel13.gif]

As we were off on a family walk on Monday it seemed wrong not to take a dog with us, so we borrowed Penny for the day.
She was absolutely brilliant. I picked her up and she settled happily in the back of the car.
We arrived home and spent some time in the garden playing ball, which she loves. However she was very good at dropping the ball. At no time was I worried that she was possessive about it.
We had a lovely walk across the fields to the pub, where she behaved beautifully. She didn’t beg for food and settled down happily next to us while we ate.
On our walk we encountered other dogs, both on and off lead. A runner and people on bikes. At no point did she react in anyway. The only thing that did get her attention was a dog being thrown a ball. I think she would have been in heaven to have had a really good chase after a ball.
The only downside to the day was my daughter’s constant requests that we keep her and their sadness at having to say good bye to her. If my work commitments were different I’d have a homing request in asap.
She has obviously been loved and her previous owner must have put in a lot of time with her.
She is a joy to have around. Such a happy girl.
