Dexter and I enjoyed a lovely walk this afternoon. Whilst exiting the kennel block he very cheekily stole another dogs toy, a string of plastic sausages, which were sticking out from under the kennel door, it did bring a smile to my face, he soon lost interest and so dropped them. Whilst out we did pass a couple of other dogs being walked, it seems as though Dexter would love to walk with them and socialise but to be on the safe side we kept our distance as I didn't know how the other dogs would react. Dexter really is a lovely boy with a soft kind nature, he is very good when I offered him his sausage treats when we got back to his kennel. love together.gif]

A lovely greeting as usual from Dexter this afternoon. Despite the rain this did not deter this gorgeous boy from enjoying his walk. Although Dexter hadn't been out walking for a couple of days he was well behaved, he does pull a bit but is manageable. I am sure in a home environment with regular walks this would stop. He really is great company and I am surprised he still remains in kennels. :smiley-chores002.gif: k2727.gif

Dexter and I had a good walk this afternoon, despite not going out for a walk yesterday he didn't get too excitable. As previously mentioned Dexter is always keen to say hello to other dogs out walking and tries to catch up but to be on the safe side I make sure we keep our distance which must be frustrating for him. Having said this as soon as we take a different route he soon settles down. love4.gif

I had my Dexter fix again this afternoon, he was eager to get going on his walk but did get a bit stressed when exiting the kennels which is understandable when other dogs are barking at him. Having said this once we were away from the kennels he soon settled down and enjoyed a lovely sunny walk. When we returned to the kennels Dexter enjoyed his sausage treats. Heart fill with love.gif]

I made Dexter my first walk today, as I find getting him out early, before the hype builds in the kennels, he is better. Leads on, straight out of the door and no lead grabbing today. He calmly did a wee and trotted off with me. No pulling today. We met up with Kim and Vinny in the car park, and Dexter did a silly "I'm excited jump" but with a firm NO and walking on, from then on , he walked side by side with Vinny, the rest of the walk! We met a couple of other dogs, and Dexter shows a bit of silliness then calms when he realises they aren't a threat. His behaviour around dogs has improved greatly, he just needs management on first meeting, and maybe walking wih another dog now will help him improve more. He and Vinny were the best of friends by the end of the walk. Dexter went calmly back to his kennel, I felt it was a very productive morning with him. He is a lovely affectionate dog, and away from kennels, I'm sure he will be very different. Somebody needs to continue his socialisation with digs, but he loves people. He ignored passing horses too.

Dexter has enjoyed a lovely weekend away with Elliott and Charlotte. He travelled brilliantly, a bit of a fidget bottom but settled after 5 minutes. Loves his walks but is also a bit of a coach potato and don’t tell his kennel mates this, likes to be wrapped in a blanket like a baby.......shhhh. 100% toilet trained - not a single accident indoors - he gives clear signals he needs a toilet break. He LOVES his cuddles and thinks he’s a lap dog, bless him. Not a peep out of him through the night - he likes his sleep. Didn’t chew or touch a thing he shouldn’t have - such a good boy. He does need a little help with his dog skills, he’s not a fan of his fellow canines but is very easily distracted. All in all, Dexter has been the perfect weekend companion - he didn’t put a paw wrong. Xx

I had the pleasure of walking Dexter on Saturday. What a handsome and sweet boy he is!
I loved seeing his smile when he looked up at me during the walk, just wondering if there was any fuss or treats on offer which there always was.
He really did love his walk and was good as gold going back to the kennels even with another dog barking at him.

Dexter gave me a good welcome today, and I clipped his leads on and he walked calmly out of the kennel block without any silliness. I had sausages in my pocket and he was very focused on these. Dexter can be silly and lead grabby around the kennels, especially if he sees another dog, but then when you get walking with him, he is very well behaved and happily shared his walk with several other dogs today, he and Fred even had a nose to nose sniff and he walked shoulder to shoulder parallel with both him and Roddy. A lady out walking stopped and made a big fuss of Dexter, which he loved and did a great sit for her bag of treats! Dexter is very obedient and very, very trainable. He is very focused on rewards and is easy to distract and get him to focus on you. I do this when I can see dogs approaching and it works very well, he will sit and gaze up at me (well, the sausage) while they pass. I was very impressed with Dexters behaviour walking with kennel mates today. He just needs to meet a dog, then he settles with them. Super, friendly boy with a fabulous nature.

I took Dexter out this afternoon, he was so very good and did not lead grab at all. Despite it raining, mud and puddles, this did not deter Dexter at all. As the previous comments Dexter is an affectionate boy and as seen in the photos on his weekend break he just needs a home he can call his own where he will be able to relax and show his truly lovely personality. I really do hope this will happen very soon. Heart fill with love.gif]

I received a lovely greeting from Dexter this afternoon as always he was excited to be going out for a walk. When we got outside the kennels this cheeky boy managed to rummage in my pocket and extract a few treats. Well who can blame him! Although Dexter doesn't take any notice of the dogs barking at him when exiting the kennel block he seems to become anxious when other dogs bark at him whilst out and about, we passed by a few gardens with dogs barking and although he couldn't see them he did start to become a bit stressed but once we had gone by he soon settled down. When we got back to the kennels he did a very good sit whilst he waited for his sausage treats. Such a gorgeous boy. Heart fill with love.gif]
