Lenny's Story: Lenny has grown up with another dog and visiting Grandchildren. Lenny has resource guarding issues especially food and is kept separate from the visiting grandchildren and there are tensions between him and the other dog. He is kept away from the kitchen. Has catch clothes, and broken skin on 2 occasions related to food but the family have measures in place now and he is manageable but needs an understanding family to offer him more freedom. Full history and handover available. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Lenny is neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Lenny is in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If interested in rehoming one of our dogs, the first step is to complete and submit our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. We do not discuss dogs without a homing questionnaire submission. You must be ready and sadly due to unprecedented interest, we will only be able to contact you if we have a suitable dog. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £200. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

I have been spending time with Lenny this week, making friends. He is wary of new people but we have started to build some trust with each other. Lynne managed to coax him out of his kennel yesterday for a walk and it was my pleasure to take over his leads and head out to explore the woods together. Back in his kennel after our walk, Lenny was happy to sit with me and let me stroke him.
Today I sat with him for a while as he was again wary of me. After a little while, he came over to me and I was able to gently pick up his lead and immediately walk out of the kennel with him. Once out and about, Lenny relaxes and enjoys his walk, investigating his surroundings. He is still wary of people around him but by giving him plenty of space and reassurance he was happy to pass and continue his walk with me. Again, back in his kennel he was happy to receive gentle stokes while I sat with him.

Lenny is settling in and making friends. He now waits at the front of his kennel when he sees me, tail wagging, ready to go out. He was happy for me to adjust his harness and then out we went. Today he enjoyed a walk with Henry dog and then on his own with one of our new walkers, Kelly. He is a delight when he is out, full of energy and enthusiasm but really good on the lead, just keen to move forward and explore with his nose. He was not fazed by traffic, he is fine with other dogs, but just a bit wary of people he does not know. However he quickly relaxed with Kelly when I handed her his leads. thumbs.gif

Thursday I met Lenny wow what a handsome dog. No problem getting him out of his kennel, picked up trailing lead and attached my lead, once out of the run. He was so good even though this was the first time he had met me and just took everything in his stride. I hope he gets his forever home soon this lad is not only good looking but lovely to walk, we met a few people and I just stepped aside to let them pass and carried on with our walk, Lenny was well behaved.

It is wonderful to see the progress Lenny has made in such a short space of time! He was very nervous and worried when I first saw him in the kennels, but when Anne took me to meet him on Friday so that I could take him out for a walk, he was happy for me to enter his kennel and was quite keen to get going ! He and I enjoyed a lovely walk together through the woods and he had a nice time splashing around in the stream :)

We walked Lenny for the first time today after Anne introduced us. He was nervous when I first entered his kennel but soon accepted me and once we were outside and his leads attached he was fine. He walks easily and quickly but without pulling hard. He loved the river and enjoys a good sniff around. He enjoyed a run around in the paddock and some fuss and a reassuring cuddle. Lenny is a lovely, easy going boy who's still finding his feet in his new kennel environment.

I walked Lenny today for the first time. He is such a stunning looking dog - adorable face with beautiful eyes! We went into the woods with Lynda who was walking Tigga and Lenny followed Tigga. Such an easy dog to walk and so well behaved. At one point he was covered in grass seeds and he didn't object at all to me removing them from his ears and face. He is really lovely. I can't wait to walk him again. Heart fill with love.gif] Heart fill with love.gif]

Lenny was my first walk yesterday and we went out with Chase walked by Lynda. Lenny was really pleased to see me; he immediately sat by my feet when he realised it was lead clipping on time with no exuberant jumping up - well behaved fella. He enjoyed stretching his legs to the keeper's cottage and back and was well behaved when we met other dogs. He is a great little dog - can't praise him enough and actually don't think he will be with RR long. I obviously haven't witnessed any of his food guarding behaviours but I would think these are behaviours which could be very easily managed in the right home. Let's hope that home comes along soon. :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif: :crossfingers.gif:
