Lexi's Story: Lexi's owner needed to give her up due to severe health reasons. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving her life. Lexi is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Lexi was in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting her new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Lexi's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.

Dear Lexi, what a sweetheart. She was nervous when Louise and I went to meet her in the paddock. She came over for a sniff but clearly wanted her own space. A bit later we took her out for a quick wander and to take some photos. Again she was nervous and worried about what was happening and wanted to get back to the security of her kennel. She needs time to settle and time to meet new people, having just had a busy couple of days.

Lexi came to the vets with me today. She happily met all the kennel staff as she jump into her crate ready for the journey. In the vets she was confronted with 2 King Charles Spaniels and a Shih Tzu and was very happy to meet them. She had lots of cuddles from our vet as she examed her. She had her 1st vaccination and has started on antibiotics as she has a bit of a rash on her under carriage currently.

Lovely Lexi came out for another short walk at the end of today’s walking - out with me and Charlie this time, she’s a strong gal and we got a smile or two from her - well the liver cake did !!!

Took Lexi out into the paddock maybe yesterday (it’s been a long week). We’d met before so she was comfortable just staying close for a cuddle. Quiet hot so no zoomies but a gentle mooch.

Lexi was just chilling out after her walk yesterday.
Re: Lexi Ambulldog DofB 21.10.16 Gatwick Kenns
lovely Lexi was my last walk yesterday and she was just the perfect walking partner at the end of a long day walking.
She's a bit of a mummy, she's obviously had puppies but she's also like your mum! Ooh do be careful, watch out there!! She's such a sweetheart and when unsure will flop to the floor but with very gentle encouragement Lexi becomes very brave
We visited the paddock where I was very impressed with her speed as she explored and then fabulous cuddles Then Lexi spotted Boycie, ooh I like him!! So sweet
On our way back we found a shady spot to just sit and relax. First Clare joined us and Lexi was so very relaxed and happy, rolling on her back for proper tummy rubs and then giving the most wonderful kisses and cuddles, she literally crawled up Clare's front to give her kisses Then Jemma joined us and Lexi proudly showed off her tricks. Lexi was loving being the centre of attention.
Lexi has so much love to give, please don't keep this lovely girl waiting for too long

Lexi is so gentle. She's easy to get out of the kennel, we have to go by Snowy and Gilly who can be quite load and she takes no notice of them or other dogs. I have found it difficult to take Lexi for a walk and so last night we went into the paddock. She had a mooch about, didn't seem worried about coming over for a cuddle and I started to worry she wouldn't get much exercise or use of the time.
Then I spotted a tennis ball. Lexi likes playing catch/ chase!
I wouldn't call it fetch as she doesn't really bring it back, so working a two ball system worked well and she loved chasing after them and was very happy to let me take them off her, no snatching. Again she's so gentle and a real sweety.
Yes Lexi is a larger dog, but you wouldn't know that with her on the lead or by her attitude. She'd do a great job of watching the world go by from a sofa with chilled out walks. For her age she is very mature and steady, what a great companion she'll make someone!
