Ollie's Story: Ollie grew up with a child who is now 10, and the child's alcohol dependent mother. On New Year's Eve, late at night, his owner did something whilst intoxicated, which triggered Ollie to bite her. She wanted Ollie gone, and a friend of a friend contacted us and brought him into our care. The person who referred Ollie to us had had concerns for him before the event, so was relieved to get him into safety. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Ollie is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Ollie was in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £200. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.

Ollie's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information:
01.01.19: Urgent call asking for help to make Ollie safe as he has been pushed to bite his alcoholic owner who wanted to put him to sleep.

Ollie came to us on 01.01.19.

Ollie is understandably quite frightened at the moment but once out of his kennel he showed his soft, friendly side. We ambled companionably through the woodland and went to sit on the bench. While I sat he wanted cuddles and fuss and I was more than happy to deliver. After cuddles we walked on. Ollie loves treats and will sit and give paw and then take them gently. He is a real gent and I have fallen in love with him. His temperament is lovely, he just carries worries and is scared as he has come from a tough background. Onwards and upwards lovely boy, only love, cuddles, walks and fun from now on.

Not having met Ollie before, I was careful going into his kennel, but I was met with a very waggy tail, so I just led him straight outside and he stood up to give me a hug. He was a bit scared passing the other dogs in his block but was settled on our walk. We walked with April and Simba, and both dogs walked happily together. Ollies tail did not stop wagging the whole time and he seemed to want to play with other dogs but I didn't let him get that close today. He walks nicely and really seemed to enjoy getting out and about. We met the cat twice, on our way out and coming back, and Ollie had a look then looked away and walked off, not interested either time. Every time I stopped walking, Ollie would zoom in for a cuddle then happily trotted on again.

In fact he found the tennis ball in the garden first off but then thoroughly enjoyed de-fluffing the teddy bear and then a good munch on the antler !

Ollie enjoyed a social walk this morning with Bruno. The boys were brilliant together, enjoying each others company.
