Spike and I enjoyed a lovely walk together today! He was very good letting me get the leads on and he had managed to slip a leg out of his harness which he let me put right with no protest at all. Once we set off he walked beautifully and loved to stop for a little cuddle and photoshoot. He was willing to do anything for the sausage I had in my pocket! I think he is much smaller than he comes across in photos. I really loved walking him today such a little angel 😇

Thank you, Freya. Spike was such a good boy when he was here following his little operation. So pleased his lovely nature is beginning to shine through.

Oh Spike I'm smitten...
So I've had the great pleasure of meeting and walking this new boy for the last two days .On meeting for the first time Spike showed no nerves just excitement as I easily harnessed him then we were off, He ignored all the kennel dogs shouting at him as he happily jogged past.
He was excited to be exploring his new surroundings and had a few husky runs that kept me on my toes but settled to a calm pace as we met Patsy and Sundance, and walked very well past them both .
Simba shouted in his direction and both dogs enjoyed a few play bows and lunges happy faces and tails and then we were on our way again. Spike is a scenter and keeps himself busy during his walks, He was good by the road and ignored cyclists or other pedestrians .

Today he saw Rocky and squealed with delight as he wanted to meet and play !!
We visited the paddock for a leg stretch and run and after throwing a few balls it was clear Spike has no interest in them or hasn't been introduced to balls before .Instead he kept himself entertained had a good stretch and excitedly looked on as Rocky played in a nearby paddock .
A handsome young man, who will thrive in a home !

So, today I walked gorgeous Spike for the second time this week. I’d read all about what he’d been through and wondered what I’d find.
The nicest, happiest dog is what I found!
Today he showed me that he remembered about walking nicely to heel when we walked by a road.
We met a chap out on our walk and Spike greeted him very nicely and calmly, sniffing then licking his hand. We encountered a horse, a spaniel and two girls walking and he behaved impeccably with them all. No barking, no lunging, just happy to focus on me and sniff at the girls as they passed him
Well done Spike! thumbs.gif

Spike is a young, beautiful dog with lots of skills. He walks nicely, is loving, listens intently to human waffle, is super playful around other dogs, he's an absolute smasher. Anyone who wants a larger dog (he's not that big tbh) with bags of potential then Spike is your boy love4.gif

Lovely walk with Spike today. He was energetic but soon calmed down. He was fascinated by the swans and a pigeon but passed several dogs with limited interest. He was very good going up and down steps and heeled nicely when asked. Lovely friendly boy.

I met this lad today and fell in love love4.gif he was so happy to see me and go out for a walk, he was very energetic at first but soon calmed down. We exited the kennels, where he walked beautifully the entire time! Even when I slipped over in the mud! 🤦‍♀️ He’s very responsive to treats and seems eager to learn, I think he could make a great addition to someone’s home. Fingers crossed his time comes soon :crossfingers.gif:

I can only praise this little boy, I have no idea how he’s not been snapped up and homed yet!

On our walk today he was great company, we passed many people and their dogs with no trouble at all and spike was happy to sit and wait for his treats. He’s such a kind hearted dog, I think he’d really enjoy training because he’s so responsive to treats and commands. we also went to the paddock and enjoyed a few games and running around too, where I got covered in muddy spike paws 🥰

Spike is such a characteristic boy with so much love to give!
I walked him a few times over the weeks and I just have to stop and give him cuddles all the time🥰 he cracks me up with the way he looks back at me with his big grin on his face, I also bent down to tie my shoes the other dog and got a big slobbery kiss on my face! Thanks spike! 🤮🤣

He’s wasted here at the kennels and needs a home that he can thrive in. If circumstances were different I’d have taken him home in a heartbeat ❤️
If a larger dog (he’s not that big) with plenty of character is what you’re looking for then he’s the one for you!

Spike was such a good boy for me today. He is fantastic with focus based training, loves food so would be perfect for agility, sniffer training or running (cani-cross). This boy is super switched on, eager to please and wants to be told what to do next. After our lovely walk, we practiced sit, stay, come and he was just starting to get the gist when we had to finish.

Spike really needs an active home that can help him socialise with other dogs properly as he can be dog reactive. He is such a gorgeous boy and I think would truly flourish in a home with a good routine.

(Also, he is one of the most handsome, photogenic dogs I have met. Maybe second best to Loki the Akita who got homed back in October 2018!)
