Spike's only been with me for about 24 hours and he's certainly making a great impression.

He's an absolute dream in the car. We had a journey of over an hour and I never heard a peep from him. He was sitting up to watch the world go by most of the time. He was a bit restless at first getting used to his new surroundings and new treat dispenser (me!) but he's finally relaxing and having some nice deep sleeps. He's a bit of a snorer and must be chasing after something in his dreams as his legs get moving.

He's very curious and has scoped out the house and garden to his best ability. Not a single accident, not even to make his mark in the house which I've been very impressed with.

To say he is food motivated is an understatement. His curiosity does include the countertops but I've only seen him checking those out when he's wandered off to explore on his own. A quick "down" and he moves on. He sits close when I'm eating trying to convince me to share with his lovely brown eyes, but, I've stayed strong so far. He's quite clever and should be easy to train with treats. He already knows sit, paw, other paw.

He's head collar trained which I am using while he gets used to the neighbourhood. We did interrupt a local cat meeting on our walk this morning so this helped him from pulling me along to try and chase them. A super easy dog to walk.

What a fantastic houseguest Spike has been this week. He's completely housetrained, there's not been a single accident since he's arrived. And, as he's food motivated, is easy to train as well. He's been an ideal companion for me while I work from home. He'll do his own thing which mostly involves sleeping or exploring the kitchen for some food (it's best to not leave anything out on the countertops). But he also ensures I take breaks from the computer for cuddles and pets.

He's more than happy to snooze the day away or be as active as his human wants. He can lose confidence out on our walks with strangers approaching as the suburban world is still new to him but we're working on that with treats and reassuring words.

Spike's personality is coming out with each day he's here. He still has young puppy energy and excitement. He's starting to play fetch and, after 2 weeks of examining a rawhide chew ring, he's dedicating his focus to it.

He makes me laugh with his happy dance whenever we're getting ready for a walk or for his meals. I now understand why dogs like walks so much after following the stay at home orders myself.

He has more than proven himself in the home and will need a quiet home. His nerves on walks have improved greatly. He gets excited when we see cats and foxes while we're out but can be moved along easily after a bit of a staring match. He wants to say hello to each dog we see and whines that we can't due to social distancing.

I know his forever home is out there and I hope they come find him soon.

This handsome and cuddly boy is well overdue his forever home. A quiet home with no small children would be a great fit for Spike.

We've been together for 4 weeks now and he's not put a paw wrong. He's a clever boy who is happy to keep learning as he's food motivated. He already knows, sit, paw, other paw and lie down. You'll never need a clock to tell you when it's feeding time - Spike will let you know! He loves going on walks as well as patrolling the garden - he is nervous when strangers get too close but is easy to move along.

He is happy to cuddle up as well as be independent (he's currently upstairs napping while I'm on the computer in the lounge). He's fine to be left on his own in the home (2-3 hours tested thus far) and is still learning how to play on his own - he enjoys toys but doesn't engage with them for very long.

He is protective of his home and lets you know when people are nearby whether that be walking past the front window or when hearing the neighbours in their own gardens. With the recent weather, we've been spending lots of time in the garden and he's gotten used to knowing the neighbours are out as well which has meant enjoyable and relaxing times in the sun for us all.
