Franco's Story: Franco was found abandoned and unclaimed within a South Coast council pound. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Franco is now neutered, Spanish chipped, and fully vaccinated. Franco was in boarding kennels near Gatwick and now in foster with another Spanish dog whilst awaiting his new family.
If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.
Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.
Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays. Franco's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: We were asked to help Franco who was found stray via his Dog Warden

Franco Spanish Crossbreed DoB ?2018 Gatwick Kenns
Franco is a lovely boy with gorgeous, expressive ears! We had a nice long walk through the woods. He walked well and is very confident. He was on the look out for squirrels, birds and just taking everything in. He is not that fussed on treats particularly, but was given lots of praise instead. We were so busy, I forgot to take a picture on our walk! I will remember on our next walk

Franco likes a cuddle or two or three. He just had to go over and say hello to all the staff who were relaxing having their lunch. Each one in turn got the full on Franco cuddles experience.
Franco Spanish Crossbreed DoB ?2018 Smallfield Foster
Big day for Franco he went to the vets and was neutered, 1st Vax'd and explored the deformity in his right hind leg. Our vet reported that he had a past injury, a fracture to his tibia which had healed naturally and a large callus had formed around the fracture site.
Here is Franco meeting his foster brother Senor Jonny ...from Mainland Spain as himself.
His leg is functional and there is no pain so 'leave as is'. You will hardly notice it in his movement and running in the video below. Here is Franco meeting his foster brother Senor Jonny ...from Mainland Spain as himself.

We have fostered Franco for just over a week now. He has settled into life at home really quickly and he gets on well with our dog too. He’s extremely loving and playful and as with most podenco’s he has loads of energy. He does pull a bit on the lead and he can get quite excited when we see other dogs. He is constantly staking out the hedgerows for squirrels and rabbits on our walks!
