Had a nice walk with Baxter today. He can be a bit lively, especially around the local wildlife and some passing dogs but he's a fine animal and plods along quite nicely. He's interested in all the smells, sights and sounds that the walk has to offer.

I’ve walked Baxter several times since he returned. He has seemed a little bewildered being back in kennels after 15 months in a home. He still walks at a lovely gentle pace and is a very loving and cuddly dog. He will, at times, try to chew his lead, but will let me take it out of his mouth and is ever so gentle with my hands — he has always been careful not to chew my fingers instead of the lead.
He has walked well following other dogs since he came back and only uses his strength when he sees a squirrel or a cat!
Baxter takes treats very delicately and he always wants a cuddle when he gets back to his kennel. Hopefully he will be in a home again soon.

Had the pleasure of Baxter's company today. The boy likes to run around for sure and was keen around the tennis ball. He runs and growls at the same time which might seem a little disconcerting for some, but I've had no problems with him, it's just his way.

We took the long way round and he walks just fine. He likes a sniff and a rummage and is lively if other dogs pass to close to him. I find him friendly and good company.

Another great fast walk with Baxter yesterday. He was very patient at the beginning waiting for his harness to be put on, enjoyed a few treats and cuddles and off we went. As always, he loved to do lots of sniffing around and looking out for wildlife, but reacted well to being called, too. We would love to see Baxter find his own home, he is great with people, always so happy to welcome his walkers.

Baxter really enjoyed walking with his kinfolk today. He didnt like lagging behind to far and made sure he caught up after his frequent sniff stops.

And he likes to bury treats with his nose. Leaf it out!

Ah, great to see these three gorgeous dogs together :-)

Today we had another great walk / jog with Baxter (thank goodness he often stops to sniff around and watch for any wildlife coming his way as we're definitely not runners!) before watching him having lots of fun in the paddock and going away for the day.
Love this boy!

Baxter came home with me for a few hours today. He had already been walked, so we went to the paddock for a few zoomies and to chase some balls, which he tends to bury after catching them, though not very well as they are easily recovered.
I took him to the bathroom to wash the Gatwick mud off his feet in the shower. He was a little cautious but he accepted having his paws cleaned calmly. For anyone looking for a good car traveller, Baxter is the dog for you. He jumped in and laid down immediately, I didn’t hear from him at all. On arrival at my house he continued lying down in the back of the car until I had clipped his leads on.

Baxter was calm at home and spent most of the time cuddled up to me. He did bury treats down the back of the sofa - and even moved them from the back of one sofa to another sofa when I sat down near to the buried treat.
He’s very cuddly and gentle and has a more cuddly body than most lurchers. He was very gentle and friendly with the family too.

We went on a short walk around the block - - he seemed much calmer than at kennels and walked well on the pavement with cars going past.
We had a game of tug - he’s very careful to avoid your fingers.

When it was time to go back to Gatwick he, travelled brilliantly again. I will definitely be taking Baxter home again - he’s a lovely dog.

Becca, this is so lovely to read and see Baxter in home environment. Such a great cuddly boy! We're so glad he could spend this afternoon relaxing at your home :-).
