Current Status: Homed
Baloo's Story: Baloo has homed by a man that hasn't had the right circumstances for him, he has been living in a scaffolding yard for a period and lately in a car. A relative bought Baloo into safety with us as an emergency. He had very bad eyes and needed immediate veterinary attention. Rescue Remedies offered a Rescue place saving his life. Baloo is now neutered, chipped, and fully vaccinated. Baloo was in boarding kennels near Gatwick whilst awaiting his new family.

If you are interested in rehoming one of our dogs, please complete our ONLINE HOMING QUESTIONNAIRE. It is always the first step in our rehoming process. Upon application, you must be ready to take in your new dog within seven days. For more detailed information, please see our Homing Process.

Please support our work and help our long stay dogs: Our minimum adoption donation is £175. This supports our continuing rescue work and is non-refundable. We exist solely due to the goodwill and donations of our supporters and volunteers. Our dogs need supportive families who will offer them patience, time and tolerance whilst they settle in their new homes. Our Rescue offers all our dogs back-up for life.

Please note: Dog laws have changed, with zero public tolerance and prejudice against bull breeds and terriers. Our Rescue asks new owners to keep their dog on a lead in public spaces and manage and support its encounters with new dogs and people, so as not to place the dog's life at risk. Destruction and Control Orders are commonplace nowadays.
Baloo's progress through our Rescue is below.
We work with our dogs, who often reveal a different picture and positive skills as they build trust.
Original Referral information: A call desperately asking for our help. We took Baloo in within 2 hours.

We took Baloo straight into our vets on Monday ... the earliest possible time. Our vet neutered him and examined his eyes. As with so many Shar peis our vet carried out surgery to draw the eye skin away from his eyes. Sadly Baloo had a perforated ulcer in one eye and at the moment he is blind in that eye: hoping he may get some eyesight back.

Wonderful temperament and good around with dogs. Affectionate and so raring to go into life and offer his gifts to a new family.

Baloo is well named as he is a cuddly bear of a dog. His eye is recovering well and he enjoyed a walk with Jess and was delighted that she had a packet of chicken in her pocket which she was sharing with him. Fantastic boy, friendly, cuddly, calm, good manners and super cool.

Baloo was an absolute sweetheart on our walk today.
Having not met before I was super gentle introducing myself, crouching down and offering treats, Baloo was not interested in my treats but he very much wanted to make friends and so we set off.
Heads up to other walkers, Baloo seems clean in his kennel so was absolutely desperate to go to the toilet, we spent the first few minutes of Baloo finding the perfect spot to go, bless him, such a love.
Baloo reminds me of Winston, he could almost be his younger brother, he certainly is as lovely and affectionate. He absolutely relished his walk, taking everything in, sniffing and snuffling in the undergrowth and although he didn't know me we enjoyed a cuddle or two love4.gif
Baloo is a very handsome boy, he has the cutest face and although small he's a sturdy little chap with a lovely curly tail.
So hope Baloo doesn't have to wait for too long for his forever home, he's such a lovely boy Kiss of love.gif

I took this gorgeous boy for a lovely and relaxed yesterday and totally fell in love. This boy is just gorgeous inside and out. He is very polite when you enter his kennel and waits patiently for you to ready the leads and then he’s off. He walks very well on lead, no pulling, although one of his favourite pastimes is sniffing so be prepared for a little back and forth as he’s a busy boy on his walks. It’s so lovely to see him enjoying himself though and he’s so gentle on the lead it’s not a problem. Baloo also loves a good tickle and stops every now and then to partake in some human contact and fuss time.

Baloo really is a stunning, gentle boy who is a bit bewildered in kennels and would much prefer a sofa if someone could offer him one please.

So how lucky was I to get to take the beautiful Baloo out twice in one week. 😀😀😍. This boy is just simply lovely. He’s very gentle and welcomes you so nicely into his kennel. He walks very respectfully on his lead and yesterday so he his excited side in the paddock where he very thoroughly inspected the whole perimeter for smells. He cam back to me from time to time though to check in and say hi which was so cute. Baloo is very chilled, gentle and really doesn’t ask for much at all. He did tell me though that he would rather like a sofa to call his if someone felt they wouldn’t mind sharing. Could you be that person to offer this stunner a home.

Baloo is a sweet little man who cuddled up to me after our walk in a hailstorm.

I took Baloo for a walk this afternoon for the first time. He is everything that other walkers have said he is. He is just such a friendly adorable boy with a lovely shiny black coat. He was very eager to get going on his walk stopping once in a while to sniff new smells. He is a very switched on boy easily figuring out how to negotiate stiles. I really don’t think Baloo will remain in kennels for long. love4.gif
